One thing's for sure.

I always remember Smith being hard in the tackle. He never backs out of a challenge. Could he be the answer to our defensive midfield position? Is he enough of a ball winner to play there? Could he curb his propensity for the occasional rash challenge?

I know he's played up front and in more of an offensive role in his career but I'm just thinking out loud here.

The problem i have with this potential transfer is that he really is not a central midfield player. He failed in that positon for Manchester United and has repeated the feat at Newcastle. He is naturally a forward and if he did arrive at Goodison, he would surely only make a positve impact if he was to play more in a more advanced role.

The reporter at Newcastle Game for SSN just said the rumours at the stadium is that Smith is signing for Everton and wasnt in the squad! Impotant to note that Newcaslte didnt have a fit striker at the game and all bar Smith were reported to be injured.

He will be interviewing Keegan in a bit and said he was going to ask him about it!
