Alan Myers leaves Everton for 'personal reasons'.

There is no 'our duty' at all. People can use their own brains (and eyes and ears) to see what's going on. Investigative journalism would not exist if journalists didn't piece together evidence.

As is often the case when a person departs, an attempt is made to keep things as amicable as possible, at least publicly. However there are a number of very clear things that indicate.

It is highly unusual for someone to leave their dream job after 6 months, completely out of the blue, with close work colleagues not commenting on his departure at all nor wishing him well.

It is highly unusual for the departing employee, supposedly leaving for his own reasons and with no ill feeling, suddenly start getting things off his chest (references to how the club should be branded, ticket touting, and Kitbag making employees redundant from the club shop).

It is highly unusual for the departing employee to be hounded on Twitter by a very public best friend of the departing employee's boss.

If it walks like a duck, smells like a duck and quacks like a duck, it is almost certainly a duck.

Under no circumstances should character assassination of Alan Myers be tolerated. From Mike Parry or the Echo.

Robert Elstone has alot of explaining to do.

Totally agree with this, they best not stick the knife in.

In years to come, we will have some shocking books about the goings on of Goodison Park.

been out of the loop for a few weeks as internet was down and telco was decidedly unhelpful, can someone bring me up to date? Really liked him at our club, was doing a sterling job.

His tweet tonight was that he never left Everton to join Blackburn, he joined Blackburn because he'd left Everton.

It's a play on words Davek - he's left Everton and joined Blackburn in 24hrs.....even the least cynical of us need to question why. Stories of Twitter remarks are poppycock....he's an adult in his ultimate job so a few dickheads on Twitter wouldn't budge him. The issue I have is that until he or Everton explain the departure there will be all types of totally unsettling conjecture and blame being bandied about because we're ill-informed, so everyone's a loser -Alan, Everton and sensibility.

Looks like he left for the sake of his health. As in, couldn't be fussed taking or dealing with all the internal bullcrap as it was affecting him badly. Which worryingly points at a degree of internal bullcrap at EFC which is evidently not present at, say, Blackburn.

No bullcrap at FC Venkys ......which solar system have you been inhabiting for the last 18 months?
If there's any back room politics going on or Boardroom antics and that's Alans reason for leaving then he clearly isn't as intelligent and professional as we all believe.....if there was one car crash of a Club you wouldn't take refuge in its Blackburn.

It smells.....and Alan is helping reek the place out by talking in riddles. For the good of Everton he needs to be very clear why he's left. Difficult to blame the Board and the Chairman when it's all I'll- judged conjecture.

No. Get the details yourself.

I'm asking you to explain what you mean by the Kitbag 'balls up'. There are differing opinions about outsourcing...lots of clubs do it...and youre entitled to your opinion just like anyone else...but you are saying that there was a balls up, implying that you have more than an opinion, you have information. If thats the case, please give the rest of us the benefit of your knowledge. I don't know whether Alan Myers was pushed, shoved, or jumped because I don't know any actual facts. If you have any 'facts' please tell us. In my opinion he seemed to be very good at his job...thats all I know.

HK was still a boss player for our reserves in the early 80s..
But he wasn't Alan Ball..
Er, I assume that HK is Howard Kendall - I apologise if I'm wrong - but I was at Highbury the day he was dropped to fit in new signing Henry Newton in 1970. We got beat 4-0.
He took over as manager in about 1982, so, I'm having trouble believing that he was playing in the reserves in the early 80's. FGS, He went to Birmingham in a swap deal for Bob Latchford in 1974.
