AJ's Goal drought

The way the games are panning out at the moment AJ does not seem to be getting himself in potential scoring positions, playing on the wing or lying to deep. I don't know.

Right, I don't have anything against AJ whatsoever, but I just think he needs to be scoring goals. I was fortunate enough to watch Lineker for Everton, and he scored 40 goals in that season, why? because he was potent in front of goal and had nothing else in mind.

AJ is a striker, not a forward and not a winger. He's not a target man and he's not an attacking midfielder. He is a striker, so he needs to be scoring goals, and its frustrating me to see him not scoring goals. Plus his lack of form and low confidence has caused us to draw with Metalist.

If he starts scoring, then fantastic I will be made up, but I'm not going to mask over his lack of confidence with the odd key pass.

As for Barry Horne, when he was at Wrexham he callously injured a relative of mine in training and basically ended his professional career. My relative was injured for the rest of the season and was let go (it was between Horne and my relative). He ended up playing in the welsh leagues, while Barry Horne went on to play for his country.

question l when was the last time aj had a one-on-one with the keeper?? as, tho i am 40 odd , my memory seems to tell me that he did that quite often last term , esp early on . aj , more than anyone misses timmy , and the arteta who controls games . unfortunately neville/jags/cars cannot/do not keep the ball so invariably it goes back to our defenders who , with the blessed exception of leighton baines , then launch a [Poor language removed]-off hoof in the general direction of , say , north . mcfad suffered similarly on sun . as for the assists , lets have it right , he put it in last season , making loads of assists , or semi-assists . i can think of sheff wed away , wigan , fulham till he was crocked in both . he put a regular shift in . i sincerely hope we see that aj again , coz if not he'll be wanting away anyway . still the best natural goalscorer we've had for twenty years . fact . lcab (y)

Well yeah exactly. AJ has pace, that is his strength - so why doesn't he show for the ball over the top? Just doesn't seem to be as mobile.

why does it always have to be over the top ?? why not down the channels ?? such predictability in our play just plays into centre halves collective hands . i just don't think we're helping , is all . lcab (y)

When it is played down the channels, AJ just wins a throw in, and we are notoriously [Poor language removed] at keeping possession from throw-ins.
