AJ to Villa

i think moyes will play a 4-5-1 next season as his prefered formation. a holding midfielder and four attack minded players to support the yak.

I wouldnt be against something like that, as long as we bring the right people into that midfield.

The days of the standard flat 442 seem to be over, every team is much more dynamic now with players covering multiple position on the field. So yeah, a variation on the 451 is how I see us progressing too.

Its got nothing to do with hating him. I don't hate him at all but I'm not going to lie and pretend he's a talented player with a good touch.......he hasn't. He's got some good attributes about him yes. Pace and workrate being the main two but he isn't quality on the ball and his touch is woeful.

8-10 million for a squad player would be an excellent price. Where not going to get any more than that. Teams won't pay 15 million for a striker who only guarantees 10-12 goals a season. It won't happen.

With the possibility of a new striker coming in, Vaughan stepping up and Cahill and Yakubu infront of him where does AJ fit in? I don't see the point in keeping a squad player who could get you 8-10 million for.

AJ has alot of things going against him. He's average technically and wouldn't be good for a team that plays a slow build up game, he's not big or good in the air so he can't be used in a long ball game, he doesn't complient Yakubu who is the main man and he's injury prone.

I say sell him and buy a better striker which is very possible. If we can't find anyone to replace him then keep him.

I like AJ but I think he is effectiveness has been deminished by being, in effect, blacklisted by at least 2 of the Sky4. He as been painted as diver. I submit that given the right price, it might be best to move him. It could be a win-win for AJ to get a fresh slate elsewhere and for us to free up some cash in a tarnished asset.

I don't think he is a diver whatsoever but merely a bit lightweight. Combine that with his pace and many defender will have difficulty dealing with him without the inevitible bumping knocking him off stride and balance. It is apparant he is not going to get any benefit of the doubt even on the more obvious penalties. This isn't going to change. Sadly, I believe this points to the necessity to recoup investment and move on because he can't reach his full promise and play to his own pacy strengths.

I appreciate your point of view, and if I thought he was a squad player then yeah id be looking at cashing in on him, but here is where we're gonna have to agree to disagree, I think AJ is a great player who just cant bloody score very easily.

I dont think its just me who rates him, he has made the england team and our rivals always seem to want to prise him away from us, and I think if other teams were to pick out key men for Everton AJ would be on most lists.

In fact, that would make pretty interesting reading, to see who other teams rate as our dangermen, I think most would pick from Yak, AJ, Arteta and Cahill.

P.s didnt we make a massive mistake selling mc fadden when the squad was already short of numbers in the premiership pace is everything

I agree absolutely. I still think we could have got more out of McFadden. He's got skill and flair. Maybe inconsistent but had something different of the all the other players in the squad.

He had some sort of latin flair. And we miss that kind of players.

He isn't a key player though. He doesn't start week in week out so he can't be. He's been a bit part player for the majoirty of the season and if Cahill and Vaughan stay fit again next season he will be again next season.

It doesn't really matter who our oppenents think our key players are. They watch 5 minutes of Match of the day and base there opinion on that. We watch Everton every week and I think we can all agree Johnson is third in line and not key.

West Ham are the only teams I can see after him and there hardly rivals. 8-10 million would be an excellent price.

The only latin flair McFadden ever had was that pony tail he sported once!

I'm only kidding, he was decent enough when he was on form, but he could never make that last 90 minutes, let alone consecutive games. One minutes he'd look like he had genius ability the next it was as if he couldnt see the opposition and kept running into them.

Exactly what I was thinking. (y) Although I don't believe we should consider bids less than 10 million though.

Please stop it now. Did you ever watch jimmy Mc?? he was [Poor language removed], 95% of the time he done nothing. An was the most frustrating player ever to watch. Thank god he's gone.

Latin flair...:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

How quickly fans can become fickle...after his first season AJ was considered a class act by most who lost his form midway through after comments by the special one of chelski.

He follows that with a poor season where he spent much of it injured and when he did play he had a very poor midfield supplying him so he was forced to play deep. By the end of the season, he was exhausted and it showed from having to do the extra work in midfield.

You give the guy a decent midfield who can supply him with balls and allow him to play the michael own role of waiting for through balls rather than the rooney role of playing bloody everywhere, and he'll soon start putting them in the back of the net.

Tough one.

I think the main problem with AJ is that his confidence is shot. Ever since Wenger accused him of being a serial diver he seems to have gone to pieces.

I think we should give him one more season. I think we could pretty much the same fee next season if it does not work out.

I quite like AJ, put in a good shift an always give his all. I would'nt sell him for the pure fact that we have at the moment the smallest squad in britain. We'd just have to bring someone else in. An were already 6-7 players short.

anything over 9 million id except.

Hes a good player like, but we need a striker to score goals - not run around the pitch. If we want that we may aswell just buy kuyt from the [Poor language removed].

Personally id prefer it if he went to west ham or newcastle - where we can get more money (10-14 million)

Now McFadden has gone, am going to start defending AJ from the rest of you shower.

Leave our baldy alone. der der der der, and all that.

Not you too Dom!:(

Maybe we need a poll here, should we keep AJ!
