AJ Interview........

Do agree with that. It's not that we never play the passing game. If everyone's fit, I'm sure we more than able to compete with f*cking Fulham in a passing game. We played some excellent stuff during last year and as some on hear said before, that was without AJ being in the team. The annoying thing is, we don't play like that on a consistent base, but that's more down to injuries and confidence, than it has to do with incompetence on our part.

Alway liked AJ and wih him the best of luck at Fulham, but somehow I see his comments more like frustration than being the honest truth. To be honest AJ was just a limited player, with a great mentallity and wasn't good enough for Everton anymore.

I think our football will improve this season, I've seen glimpses of what could be against both Standard and Stoke. Players like Felllaini, Osman, Castillo, Rodwell, Pienaar and Arteta are all capable of keeping the ball and all want the ball.

Even against Stoke we controlled possession despite not having many flair players on the pitch. With Neville and Carsley it was always difficult because pass and move wasn't really there game but now I think we'll be comfortable in possession.

I think playing on the right is a bit of a smokescreen if anything he drifted out to the channels, because he was being muscled out of balls centrally and relied to much on pace in his game and defenders had caught on.

What he doesnt say is that we paid a club record fee for another top striker who had head and shoulders more ability then AJ. I still think it was a fantastic bit of buissness selling him for the price we did in many ways he will find his standard i beleive at fulham. Ill alwyas thank him for his contribution particularly in the first half or his first season, but for me he was found wanting and couldnt vary his game, was very unluky though in terms of penos etc!

Good luck Aj and thanks for all the fish!

He wasn't good enough for us. End of, the only reason he likes it at Fulham is because now he is teh big fish in the really really really small pond. We should never have gotten rid of Beattie for him :(...

But still i hope he does well there...

Well yes and no, I know he wasnt that good for us when Johnson came in, but i think its the same reason why johnson was [Poor language removed] when Yakubu came in! I do think Beattie was a good striker, just lost his confidence, and look whats its doing to him at sheffield united. You can go on for ages at how its a easier league, but still, being one of the highest scorers must mean something.

PS: please dont judge and take away reputation  :(

Simon Davies is the best passer there...and thats saying something...

Also thats anotehr point for Johnson. Look at Davies - he wasnt that good with us, but when he goes to fulham he looks like Ronaldinho, scoring volleys, beating people etc...

He was a good finisher, in the Prem you need more than that or you'll be found out. He didn't have the pace or intelligence to get him into the positions to finish chances.

I just didn't rate him, when he came I thought he'd be a target man type striker, he couldn't even leap that high. He wasn't actually that good in ther air either. His hold up play was average aswell.

Lower level Premier League striker for me, nothing more.

Look at his goals for Sheffield United though, some fantastic Freekicks (which makes me wonder - why didnt he do that for us? He just hit them in the wall), great headers, some pretty powerful long shots...HE is good with confidence...Just like Johnson will be.

In the Championship yes, lets see how he does in the Prem. There is a massive difference.

I think it largely depends on the type of service he gets, TB. He didn't suit being the lone striker, that was obvious. I think in a 4-4-2, with decent service, he'd do pretty well. He's not anywhere near Everton quality, though. I can see him at a number of clubs, all of which would be finishing in the bottom half of the table. But he's still a decent striker.

That's what I'm saying really, a lower level Premiership striker. He's too good for the Championship but he's not good enough for us.
