He tried to justify anything Martinez had done wrong.
Or is he trying to say McGeady is better than Bolasie lol?
You say he's just trying to justify anything Martinez did, when others try to crucify everything he did. So what's the difference?
The point with McGeady is, we signed a player with a reputation of having a good level of ability, for a nominal fee, in hopes that we could get the best out of him and/or potentially sell at a profit, which as I've said before, was our business model for a number of years. See Cleverley, Naismith, Beckford, Gibson, etc, all of whom get slated as though they were so called Marquee signings gone wrong, when they were nothing of the sort.
He was a gamble who ultimately didn't pay off, but was still a gamble worth taking. He clearly has ability, but maybe not the mentality. Or maybe, we were just the wrong team for him, which happens all the time in football, and which we have benefited from in the past as well (Schneiderlin, being the most recent example).
If we had had the budget Koeman now has for all the time we had
Moyes/Martinez, we would be shopping in a different market, and maybe we would never have signed all those players. But we might have also signed players who didn't work out for massive sums of money, like Liverpool have done on numerous occasions and which we like to poke fun at.
