Aiden McGeady

Yep, he got 30 minutes and in that time had the ball passed to him about 3 times (for some reason everything was going down the left into a dead end). So, basically with hardly any service he created Ireland's only clear cut chance for the night - if a decent forward was on the end of it then it would have been 2-2. BTW, all the crosses from the left were straight to the GK.
He may not be consistent or fit but he has the ability to create something from nothing. That is not easy to find and if used wisely (eg off the bench to try and unlock a defensive team) then it can be valuable.
I suppose you could choose to look at it like that. I would if he were a 20 year old but he's been doing the same brainless routine for years for Ireland it tends to colour my opinion. You could also say that he didn't see much of the ball as he wasn't getting himself in good positions to receive it.

Coleman initiated a simple one two with him that would've allowed Seamie to bomb up the wing but McGeady chose to follow a dead end by turning inside into traffic. Typical of his whole career that.

Personally I wouldn't have Long in our squad but "ALL of your strikers EVER"?
Robbie Keane (in his prime)?
Frank Stapleton?
John Aldridge (pardon me for swearing)?
Niall Quinn (a lot more skillful than people give him credit for)?

Holy absolutely fishmoley

Last night summed McGeady up, one cracking bit of play and a great ball into the box, followed by a woeful cross.

Not good enough really.

Irish fans here acting like American fans. For Shane Long read Jozy Altidore.
Im sure Ronald Koeman may disagree with you. More goals off the bench this season already than Jozy got in his whole time here.
Not sure all the Shane Long lovers admitted they were Irish either pal.

Is that where the problem lies with shane though its always off the bench.when he starts he rarely has a great day but when legs are tired hes a great option as hes quick on the ground and strong in the air but hel neva be good enough to start every game as he has a poor enough goals to games ratio when starting.
