Aiden McGeady

I wouldn't say he's underrated, everyone knows he has a few tricks. He can ghost past players, it's what he does next that rightly gets berated, his final ball is as bad as his ball skills are good.

If you accept that he has any talent then he is "Under rated" by almost everyone on GOT and TW. The common consensus seems to be that is absolutely crap and should off loaded ASAP.
He is a bit of an enigma and maybe a "luxury" player who undoubtedly has skill but often disappoints. Also, I think that the general perception of him has declined as other players have moved up the pecking order (eg Del boy, Barkley) and with the normal scapegoats (Osman, Hibbert) are not featuring very much anymore. My view is that he is not half as bad as people make him out to be. If fit, I think he can be a useful option off the bench if we are chasing a game. He has an ability to beat players which only Del boy has at our club and could come in handy if we are trying to break down a lower ranked team who parks the bus for example. Also, if this season goes well and we play in Europe next year, his previous (European and International) experience could be handy.

Outrageously underrated. His lack of professionalism is his downfall unfortunately. Has talent to burn.
I have been an advocate of him leaving, as I don't think he is good (consistent) enough for the top flight week in, week out. I actually agree with the bold statement (in more ways than one), however he doesn't show that talent anywhere near often enough.

We need him to perform week in, week out at top level. It's like having a Ferrari in your garage, but you only get the keys given to you for 45 minutes, twice every nine months.

That's not enough for us, and like the Ferrari, what's the point in having it/him?

Came on for Ireland second half. One piece of brilliance to beat his man and put in a cross that Ireland should have scored from to qualify. Capable of this but not consistent enough to hold down a first team place with us.

He's an incredibly frustrating footballer.

There's some real talent in there, but it seems to be competing with a lack of talent of matching size. It must be something about the way he's wired.

In any given game, even any given spell on the ball, he'll routinely show both. There's nothing more frustrating than seeing a player fail that you know is capable.

He's an absolute mess of a 'footballer'.

He got 30mins for Ireland last night and was his usual frustrating headless chicken. He did create Ireland's best chance by beating his man and getting a good cross in but other than that all he did was a few stepovers and put the ball behind in the dying moments when we had numbers in the box.

McGeady does himself no favours. As has been mentioned, he had 2 defining moments in the game. One was a good bit of skill and a great cross which should have led to an Ireland goal, but then later on when another half decent cross was needed, he put the ball behind for a goal kick. How can you play professionally as a winger and stick the ball out when crossing it? It's like a centre half not being able to head the ball, or a keeper not being any good at making saves.

I think our fans are a bit too impatient with him at times, but he doesn't help himself. Some go way over the top about how "poor" he is though. Won't last too much longer though as he doesn't seem to have the composure or attitude to make it at a club as big as ours unfortunately.

He's crap. No better than you or me really. I can do stepovers, beat the defender and whip a cross into the box. I can also hit it behind whilst attempting to cross. I wouldn't expect anyone to pay me 35k a week to do it though.

Get shut as soon as possible. Waste of a shirt.
