fair play to martinez, he brought a lot of these guys in for peanuts and we're selling them on for a good profit (in transfer fees only, wages are disculded from this argument because then i don't win the discussion.)

Everyone was going mental when we signed him and cleverley for a combined fee of half a million, yet we've sold on for possibly about £12.5m profit. Which means we're sure to get around £17m-£18m for niasse.

Sorry, I'm not a Martinez hater, but I give him zero credit for any of this. The inflated fees are just a byproduct of the crazy money flying around in football at the moment. The players leaving us are doing so because they couldn't cut it. Aiden was one of the worst culprits.

Sunderland have signed Bury striker James Vaughan and Everton winger Aiden McGeady on two-year and three-year deals respectively.

McGeady, 31, scored once in 43 Toffees games after moving from Spartak Moscow in January 2014, but netted eight in 35 under new Sunderland boss Simon Grayson on loan at Preston last season.

Vaughan, 29 on Friday, scored a career-best 24 goals for Bury last season.

He too previously worked with Grayson, at Huddersfield in the 2012-13 season.

The fees paid for both players are undisclosed, although the sum for Vaughan's transfer was a reported £900,000.

Bye Aiden, I was cautiously excited from hearing what El Bob was peddling at the time. Personally think he has that silky skill we were promised, It just was tarred by the inability to win the ball back once it had been lost.... Just like Del. Such a shame really. All the skills but none of the battle.

I'm guessing another 2m off the wage bill (I'm estimating he would have been on 40k a week). Another player out of the club, who contributed nothing to the squad.
