I think he's been decent. We have to regard him in the right context. He was signed for very little, and will largely be an option from the bench or as a rotation player I suspect. In that context he's done fine. Give him a good pre-season and we'll see how he kicks on next year.

He'll be boss in those CL group stage matches against obscure sides

Carry him? He's scored 30 goals in the PL in the past two seasons - 4th top scorer in the division in that time period.

As I say, how many times have we seen this feller arms outstretched in front of him waiting for a tap in from a pass that never comes? I swear to God he must get in those positions at least three times per game. He practically guarantees you 15 goals per season. You put Sturridge in this team and he'd struggle to get to that figure. I cant see him costing £20M either. Chelsea got him for £10m with loads of clauses that went up to £17M if he hit the trophy trail with them. We'd probably get him for close or below what Chelsea agreed to.

Maybe his game needs to improve in certain respects, but when we're on the break his movement is exceptional and he finds the best possible place to be in if/when the ball arrives. I'd hate to see us start next season without him, that's for sure.
You want to revise your opinion Dave?

He definitely made a difference when he came on and he looked like one of our better players. But he often has looked good coming on a substitute, he flunked his chance to start in the Palace game, so I don't think Martinez was wrong to leave him on the bench.

He was far better than Deulofeu and arguably better than Mirallas vs Palace though? Not sure how he "flunked" his chance..

Baffled as to why he didn't start today.
