Champions league experience, decent age and at £4m could be a good acquisition- again dont understand the hate for him. Was signed by a champions league club for £10.5m only a couple of years ago, its only because hes a year left is why he'd be in the £4m bracket.

I think it stems from him being in the SPL and there's a lot of predujice on here towards SPL players (Mostly from people who never watch it I should add)

From the bits I've seen of him, he looks OK. He has got skill and pace, can cross, shoot, and is good at dribbling and keeping hold of the ball, which makes him a good outlet.

At £4m, I really don't think that he is too big a gamble, and (hopefully) leaves us with more to spend elsewhere.

He will provide us with some natural width, and as someone pointed out in another thread before, maybe Martinez sees Pienaar coming inside more.

From the players that have thrived under Martinez at Wigan, NZogbia, McManaman, etc, it's clear he likes fast, tricky wingers, and with him on 1 side, and Mirallas on the other, I honestly can't see the problem.

Maybe if he was called Santos McGeady Silva there wouldn't be as much of an issue

The bold bit surely tells you that its absolute bollocks then? He's at Everton now, not Wigan.

The bold bit suggests - Spartak are prepared to sell, McGready is anxious to move and Martinez rates him. It doesn't mean its a done deal but a stronger link than many of the transfer stories doing the rounds of late.

cant beleive some people are saying mcgeady is crap.
hes fast , has quick feet , flair , skillfull , can dribble , can pick a pass and can take a tackle and at 27 should be in his prime .£4 million is a bargain
if pienaar and miralles are our 2 first choice wingers then id rather mcgeady as back up than magaye osman anichebe or naismith. in fact id say mcgeady would be ahead of pienaar potentially.
im sure spartak and celtic fans would agree we would have a bargain.

I don't think that's the case - some people (including me) just don't think he is good enough.

From what I have seen of him the end product is poor.

I don't know a great deal about him... apart from the fact that he was very highly thought of in Scotland before his move to Moscow. Is he quick?...we desperately need some pace in the team.

I'm sure there are people like yourself who are making an informed opinion mate, but I'm equally sure the majority of people having a go are people who saw the name "Celtic" and thought "SPL team, he must be pants"

Have to disagree mate.

He's just sh*te. If he'd gone from Man United to Russia, he'd still be sh*te.

Absolutely correct. I honestly can't understand how people can think this would be £4m well spent and that we are simply "prejudiced" against him. He is total garbage.
