Hey guys this is a question for all you non Aussie, have you ever herald of AFL? The Australian football league? Sorry but i have to ask this question when ever im talk to people who live out side Australia.

Here is a vid if you have never seen or heard of the AFL, YouTube - AFL: Showcase - The Best of Australian Football

Went to two matches when I was on holiday in Oz in 2006. First match was at the Telstra Dome, for Essendon Bombers vs The Kangaroos and the next day I visited Melbourne Cricket Ground for the match between Melbourne Demons and Port Adelaide. Was great entertainment to be fair and it's a shame it's only big in Australia. Would certainly watch some matches, if they were shown on television over here.

Maybe... :P Na i wish i did run the AFL though. I just a huge AFL lover. (Its wierd calling it AFL i keep typing in football but its a soccer forum so i cant.)

Well this is the place to get cured of the AFL's grip on you.

Heres some Big Bad Bazza

incorrect. Its a football forum. AFL and NFL involve catching the ball? - Not football!

I have family who live in Oz so I'm aware of it & know the basic rules but I've never seen more than the odd few seconds of it while I've been flicking through channels

Is it talked about much in the US?

Not really but most males my age know about it because we'd seen highlights of it or actual matches on ESPN back in the day (late 80's)

It always stood out because you saw one player getting blasted by another player and they weren't wearing any pads or helmets like the NFL over here.

Rough game to be sure.
