That touch from the pass from Bernard just shows why he should play instead of DCL.

If Lookman had received that against Arsenal, we would have won.

Why in the world would we have played Lookman as a number 9 away at Arsenal? How would we ever have got up the pitch?

Why in the world would we have played Lookman as a number 9 away at Arsenal? How would we ever have got up the pitch?

I think his best position is central, but definitely not as a lone forward.

At Leipzig he played in a front two in a 4-2-2-2, but was given the licence to drop in and act as a 10.

I'm not saying we should alter our system for him, not one bit, but I do think it would be worth playing him centrally if we are going to keep him. He offers no width and he does have that pace and trickery that suits playing him there.

Fwiw I don't think lookman has done anything yet to deserve a starting XI place, had a good 25 mins vs Soton then was completely anonymous.

Needs a bit of match practice a run in the under 23s to get fit may help him....

...that’s an interesting view basing the whole result on one incident. It was a poor piece of control and finishing by DCL, but had Lookman played instead of him, we might’ve suffered a heavier defeat because balls played centrally up front would’ve come straight back.

I worded that badly haha.

If Lookman had been in DCL's place for that moment, I am confident Mola would have scored.

..yep, I get the impression DCL has no goalscorers picture in his mind of where the keeper is in relation to the goal, it’s almost like he just hits and hopes. Lookman strikes a ball very sweetly on both sides.

I keep banging on about lookman looking like the player behind the forward. Personally think that his best game for England U21 was him in that position, Demarai Gray on the left and Dowell on the right.

He looks very dynamic there, unpredictable and dangerous.

..if I remember rightly he produced a lovely dinked pass through to DCL from that position you mention. He can go left and right side so it’s not the worst shout.
