But that's our fault for thinking that. It's a total pipe dream. Players are generally just passing through. Gone are the days where a player signs for you and stays forever. It happens to every club, I reckon almost every club's set of fans could put together a list of 11 players past and present and think "if only". Its crap of course it is but its modern football.
In regards to Lukaku and Stones, I didn't have an issue.
Barkley - a s***show from start to finish. Wasn't offered a new contract early enough, actually got better in that first season under Koeman but Moonhead was clearly a tosser. That being said it was clear from early last summer he wanted out. 50/50.
Lookman - while I appreciate there's no point in keeping an unhappy player and I do not blame Brands and Silva, both of them have publicly said they want to keep Lookman. He is exactly the type of player we should be keeping. I don't think it's as much that Lookman hates Everton, in that he just prefers Leipzig, but it's still tough to take in the sense that, really, he should not be being sold.
So far, Moshiri's tenure has been a constant 'two steps forward, one step back'. I'm hoping the people he now has in place will change that, but deals such as this don't help, not one bit.
