But what can you do if he doesn't want to be here?

Adapt and move on, he still has lots to prove. Plenty more fish in the sea and all that.
Of course he's potential currently but don't you think he deserved more minutes? He made a difference in two big games last season the Watford game and the cup derby then he was dropped and loaned somewhere where he was used correctly. Bled into the first team, a sub here a start there and look what he produced. I knew once he was loaned to a team like RB this would be the result. It's a missed opportunity in my mind obviously like you say he could flop and yes his attitude is questionable. But having seen him in the u20 world cup I think this kid will play for England one day, there are very few English players who can play on the left with the potential he has. I think it speaks to a short termism too we need to develop youth alongside targeted purchases it's the only way we can compete , some day.

Anyway get a sell on in there it's the best we can do. Richarlison is definitely more ready to start week in week out. But it's still a shame.

You show him the contract with his signature on and the length of time left.

Makes me laugh when it's said that you can't keep unhappy players at the club because they disrupt the team. We've had Mirllas for nearly a decade. Throw in Schneiderlin and Williams for the past few years. I guarantee that a Lookman tantrum would be a mouse fart in a hurricane compared to those 3.
Also, when Pickford rejects the new deal, does he become the next rat/ snake?

Nothing from our press that we’ve accepted any bid.

If we sell him, it’s going to be against the manager’s and DoF’s wishes. What a great start to a new era:hayee:

Honestly? No. What had he done to deserve more minutes? I wouldn't play him just because he has potential. He played fairly well in the dead rubber Europa game and had a decent ten minutes in the derby we lost last season. Other than that I thought he was anonymous whenever he did get his (admittedly limited) chances.

He does have potential. But he doesn't want to be here so why waste our time? It's not short termism, it's being realistic. If anything the one who is thinking in the short term is Lookman who wanted out seemingly because he is not starting games at a young age when he hasn't done much to push his case.

We develop loads of youth and I don't think we even realize it half the time as we are too busy slating them.

We need someone new to boo. Getting old picking on Davies.

I doubt he wants to play for our Under 23's because thats what we will be replacing.

Doesn't he play in the same position as Richarlison anyway?

Whilst Lozano predominantly starts on the left for PSV, he usually drifts into central positions behind the striker during games. He can play on the right, too. If need be.

Opposedly, Richarlison started on the left for Watford but was also tested as a lone centre forward last season by Javi Garcia. I'm not aware of him ever playing on the right.

So, in theory, we could play them at the same time. At the expense of either Tosun or Sigurdsson, of course.

This is a horrible example. Yeah we have kept those players around (though I'm not sure what Williams has done wrong other than being crap?) and we have looked less like a team every passing week. If anything it proves that you shouldn't keep disgruntled players around.

So instead we "show him his contract" and then do nothing with him anyway and let his contract run down?

If Pickford rejects a new deal and says he wants to move then yeah get rid and get someone in who wants to be here. They are commodities that's all, happens at every club and the best way to deal with it is to adapt to it quickly.

I'm not calling any of them snakes or rats, just be realistic and jib off anyone who doesn't fancy it.

Who would you play on the left? Bolasie? That complete waste of time? Or give a kid with bags of potential the chance to gain some experience and show what he can do in a run of games.
Bolasie produced nothing whatsoever, so i’m not sure why you wouldn’t have played Lookman

I was talking about last season, instead Sam played a half fit Bolasie returning from a broken leg because he cost more. Yes we do but it's saddening that a kid like this doesn't see the club as somewhere he will develop yes that's his attitude but also his experience.

For some reason he has never settled here, forget all the bollocks about lack of game time, it's been rumoured for the last 18 months that he wants out, remember he was homesick?
Make sure that we get exactly the value that we want for him and sell him on, he doesn't like it here.

Well Bolasie had to get back to fitness somehow I suppose.

Thing is we do give young players a chance, more than most in the top flight actually.

If I had no connections to the club I would quite fancy Liepzig too. Nice place.

Lookman scored a goal in his first game, then proceeded to do not much else over that season, and has only shown flashes since then. He may turn out to be great in a few seasons time, but I'd have no regrets if we sell him on now.

But he hardly played. That's the real shame.

When given a run (at Leipzig, a much better team than us - and they are just that) he showed his quality.

I agree mate

But he's now the fourth player that we thought we'd be building a team/part of the team around that has wanted out in the space of two years

It isn't right

But that's our fault for thinking that. It's a total pipe dream. Players are generally just passing through. Gone are the days where a player signs for you and stays forever. It happens to every club, I reckon almost every club's set of fans could put together a list of 11 players past and present and think "if only". Its crap of course it is but its modern football.

Bolasie being crap doesn't alter the fact that Lookman had done nothing to warrant a game either. His chance would have came at some point. I would be happy to keep players like that as far away as possible from the mess of last season. Also the timescales are kind of off. Bolasie had played a handful of games when Lookman moved on loan. After a handful of games it may have been fair to look and say that Bolasie wasn't up to it and then gave Lookman a go but he took that option away as he wanted out.
