2025/26 Adam Aznou

Completely cleaned his instagram of anything Everton related lol. Can't blame the kid.
Didn't this all happen early days of the season with him, or was that another player.
I remember seeing this discussion about one of our players clearing their social media.

I think Barry moved stuff between his 'personal' and 'professional' accounts and it was a bit confusing.

Aznou has gotten rid of all his Everton posts but kept even his signing post from Real Valladolid lol, it's pretty pointed - he has one post each for him playing for Morocco, Bayern, Barca and Valladolid and nothing else

As he was blocked from going on loan ultimately in January, seems clear his agent failed to account for this in the contract if playing time was limited or in this case, non-existent

Means the player is in a squad depth trap and has very little leverage to do much about it as he is contracted thru '29 but I suspect his agent will do whatever (agents have a knack for being creative) he can to force a change this summer. Moyes has a year on his contract and while Everton's table position is positive compared to previous situation, unlikely Friedkin Group will destabilize even if the coach is not making best use of youth

Something will have to give since Aznou's NT situation is probably the biggest driver of his anger with Moyes & club as Regragui will prioritize players who are active for their clubs and he has not been patient since leaving Barça - yet another cautionary tale of going for the bag without a clear path forward

If we get Europe then perhaps he gets games there along with the other u23s Moyes ignores.

Well, we haven't exactly given him anything to show off have we.

He has no story with us 🤷‍♂️

I just rewatched the end of that Sunderland game and it is even more insane than I remembered that Moyes hasn't given him a single minute since.

It is the absolute epitome of 'taking your opportunity when you get it', I'd be absolutely raging if I was him

Garner said afterwards he was happy he got to show what he could do and was looking forward to seeing him more.

Lol.

Really obvious that he's been messed around by us. Club media when he signed was very much indicating that he would be playing this season, so he's obviously been promised game time. Much harder (almost impossible) to put him in now that we're chasing Europe at the back end of the season and he's not had minutes to get to grips with the league.

It's really poor imo, and I could be saying the same about Dibling, Rohl and now George as well.

According to sources consulted by The Athletic, who asked to remain anonymous as they were not authorised to speak publicly, there is an acknowledgement at the club that past success creates a level of expectation and dictates that a middle ground must be found.

The aim is to combine the decision making of clubs such as Brighton and Brentford with superior revenues. Becoming the main challenger to the league’s top sides and emulating clubs such as Aston Villa and Newcastle United is seen as a realistic, medium-term goal.

This is from Boyland article the other day. People can debate whether or not this is the correct way to run Everton, but if the intention is to be Brighton with more spending power then it's clear that the managers use of the squad this season doesn't really line up with that idea.

If they want to stick with Moyes then they should ditch this youth policy and just give him the players he actually wants. If they're serious about what they're internally suggesting is the long term vision for the club, then they should replace Moyes with someone who actually fits that vision.

Something has to give one way or the other. Worst case scenario is a repeat of what's happened with the young players signed last summer.

Brighton's starting 11 this past weekend had 4 outfield players over the age of 30.

Brentford's owner was on record a week or two ago saying their next opportunities to grow the club center around commercial revenue, something TFG have focused on since day one.

These clubs have obvious done well bringing players in, showing their worth, and selling them on. But I'm not sure they see themselves as young talent factories either. They look for traits in players that are undervalued in the market, often that is younger players but sometimes it's Danny Welbeck or Pascal Gross.

If you can't acknowledge that Brighton's model is based around developing young players then I would have to assume that you're being deliberately obtuse.

They don't play a full team of teenagers, having a mix of youth and senior pro's is just common sense. The role of older players at Brighton is mainly to help facilitate the development of the high potential young players, and provide enough stability and leadership on the pitch to be able to help them adapt as quickly as possible. The amount of young players they've brought through speaks for itself. That's what the focus is there.

That's obviously also what we were aiming to do by spending the bulk of our money on development signings, with Grealish and KDH coming as more reliable senior pro's. The intention of the club in summer was not that all of these young players would spend the entire season not playing at all which was my original point.

Four outfield players over 30 is the equivalent of us having Tarkowski, Gana, Grealish and Keane playing. On top of that we have reliable players in their prime like Garner, KDH, Ndiaye -I don't see any good reason for us to have been as conservative as we have been this season in regards to finding minutes for the likes of Aznou, Dibling, Rohl and now George.

It feels like it's been a wasted year for him really, it's difficult to see exactly how he's going to be prepared for the challenge next year having spent 12 months barely kicking a ball so it's hard to make any sort of argument for the club handling it well I think. If he wasn't ready to compete for a place here we really needed to organise a loan at some point so that he could go out and play and continue to progress, it's very rarely a good thing for a player to get a taste of senior football and then go back to junior levels.
