If my memory is right mate, he only started the first two, wasn't he benched Vs Bournmouth.

I've no idea mate, i think TFG are a wildcard honestly have no idea what they will do, but sure eventually you'd like to think we will move on from having to rely on Doucoure being one of our most influential players, for sure.

Personally dont think we have players good enough to play anything else then we played last night, we have done a fair bit of experimentation with it.
The last week or so we have linked with a cut price deal for Maxence Caqueret of Lyon which would suggest we are looking to move on fairly quickly from Doucoure.

Need to stay at 10 in my opinion. McNeil gives us a bit more defensive cover on the left and the combinations seem a bit more tired and they see between Mykolenko McNeil and Doucoure in those positions. Just need to bring Ndiaye into the game from the right and it might be alright enough to keep us going for this season.

The thing is he can - we're just asking him to play with the ball.

Carlo had it right - make him a water carrier that runs all game, but just make him let go of the ball in short simple passes to two better midfielders ASAP.

Carlo Ancelotti likes this.
Some years ago and few injuries since Ancelotti. Can see the logic in how Dyche deploys him as no 10. But he can't be in centre midfield in how Dyche has used him before Wolves game.

That's wasting our best player. No, not for me.

You've been praying at the altar of Sean Dyche too long amigo - you are thinking safety first like the ginger one.

I’m thinking points first. We haven’t scored in 4 games then we put 4 in when Doucoure plays 10. I couldn’t care less how individuals are playing, only the points outcome matter.

We scored 4 set pieces including two own goals. I don’t think you can say that we scored 4 goals because Doucoure played behind the striker.

He was appalling on Wednesday.

He is absolutely horrid at all aspects of the game. Cant pass, cant shoot, turns the ball over constantly, when Ndiaye breaks the lines and passes to him he turns around and ruins it all by passing back for no reason.

And yet I think Ive come to the conclusion that Dyche cant win without him there. Hes so bad in a 2 that we give up goals, so pushing him further forward means we have more time to get back after his turnovers. Something about his aimless running gives Dyche yet another body to clog up the middle defensively sometimes that no normal 10 would do, and I think Dyche has realized he doesnt know how to coach anything else.

You don’t change a winning team. We weren’t scoring at all with McNeil at 10 and Ndiaye on the left. We had more clear chances both open play and set pieces with Docuoure at 10 and it allows Mangala and Gueye to come into midfield without us losing the closing down of Docuoure.

I doubt we’re going to see much of McNeil channeling his inner James for through balls in the derby whereas Doucoure and Calvert Lewin have played much more regularly together. There’s obvious limitations to it but quite simply Ndiaye isn’t threatening enough from the left to demand playing there.

Well he (Ndiaye) certainly looks 500% more threatening from the left than he does the right and he's the better footballer out of Mcneil and Doucoure so maybe they should be getting selected based on where his best position is and not shoved on the right to accommodate Doucoure and/or Mcneil

I don’t mind him staying on the left and McNeil going on the right.

The balance in mdifled doesn’t work if it’s Mangala Gueye McNeil, not enough pace to cover the ground and press. So Dyche moves Mangala out and puts Dicyoure deep and then the problem is he can’t look after the ball there and can’t move it forward.

Its a midfield conundrum with no obvious solution with Onana gone and Garner injured so the best option in my view is Doucoure at 10 so he can still press and cover ground off the ball, and it allows Mangala to play. Ndiaye and McNeil either side.

The best option would be to replace Doucoure with a proper footballer who can play football. There's enough variables for him to not have him there, though 100% I know he'll start tomorrow.

That would be the best but until the window we haven’t got many other options. Just not enough pace anywhere in the team. Branthwaite has some, Doucoure, Calvert Lewin, that’s it out of the regular starters. Take any of them out and we just can’t compress the space off the ball and teams just play around us with ease.
