Aaron Lennon ( On Loan January 2015 )

How much would you pay for Lennon in the Summer

  • Up to the rumoured 6 or 7 million - worth every penny

  • No more than 5 million - he's OK, but not worth any more

  • No more than 3 million - he's got no end product ffs

  • Wouldn't take him on a free, he's badly gash

  • Stop asking me questions and stick the grill on

Will Lennon stay at Everton?
It has been an enjoyable few months for Aaron Lennon at Everton. He may have looked less than pleased when he joined them on loan from Tottenham in January but he has been playing with a smile on his face since then and although he did not contribute much in the win over West Ham, Roberto Martínez will be sad to see him go back to White Hart Lane. It was Lennon’s final appearance this season - he will not be able to play against Tottenham on Saturday. But will we see him in an Everton shirt next season? It seems unlikely that Lennon has a future at Tottenham, so perhaps there is a deal to be done, not that Martínez was giving anything away. “I think you have to ask that to a crystal ball,” Everton’s manager said. “I think Aaron has been phenomenal, a really successful loan period. That’s the end of that loan and we will see what happens in the future but the memories will be there for ever.” Jacob Steinberg

Every time...

Although he might be playing it down so that the price doesn't get inflated, I'm hoping its for another reason too.

He knows we only have limited resources and he might have other options in mind rather than going for the safe or the obvious choice. If he chose not to sign Lennon and signed someone from abroad it would prove that he's not as sentimental as I thought him to be. Sometimes in football it is fine for someone to come and do a job for a year then send them back, having got your use out of them.

Having said that I think for £6m he'd add to our squad massively.

....he's a good pro and put in a real shift to help the cause when we most needed it. Where we go from here will depend on who is on RMs shopping list and whether he wants somebody who offers more of a threat in the top third.

I'd keep him, I personally think he's better than, say, McGeady.

If he's an improvement in what we have, then depending on what's available, I'd say he was worth it at the right price. £10m is too much, for example.

Is 10m too much though ?

He came in at a time when we were on our arses and struggling for points. There was serious concern amongst us and possibly amongst the players that we could be relegated. He came in and gave us a much needed lift. His on the field displays gave us some much needed confidence and you could argue that Lennon was a signing that was key to us turning the corner. He was certainly in the thick of things and was instrumental in that 6/7 game unbeaten streak that saw us climb to safety.

I think Lennon coming in made our current players wake up a bit.

The players were badly miffed off about something, started playing really poorly, then when it became obvious that continuation of having the arse would probably see us in the relegation battle, they started to perform again and amazingly we are albeit likely temporarily in the top half of the league.

I think they had to get over it and show the lad we are a proper team with good players and are a big club.

No source like, just logic.

The reason being is Lennon is 321 days away from his 29th birthday. At midnight his pace, acceleration, agility and balance attributes will all plummet!

I hate when people say "he'll be turning 29". Why not just say he's 28? We're signing Benjamin Button I don't think anyone ever needs to tell me how old someone will be turning on their next birthday if I already know how old they currently are.

This might have already been posted in the transfer thread, but I can't be arsed trawling through all that to check..

Tottenham's Everton and Stoke transfer target Aaron Lennon set to play deadline-day chicken to get Goodison move

Aaron Lennon is ready to hold out until the end of the summer as he eyes of permanent move to Everton

Tottenham have made it clear that they want no less than £8 million for the winger, who has just one year left on his contract.

But should the north Londoners NOT sell this summer, they risk losing Lennon for nothing in 12 months' time.

Everton boss Roberto Martinez has already admitted he wants to make the 28-year-old England international a permanent member of his squad following his successful second half of the season loan at Goodison Park.

But Martinez also insisted the Toffees will not be held ransom over the player and is considering other options.
