A tale of two R's

His contract finishes in 2012. I think he's on about if he wants it nobody could stop him seeing it out and coming on a free. I think we'd all welcome him back if that was the case. He's gotta be worth more than £35m hasn't he? Endorsements and [Poor language removed] like. Bet he gets at least a couple of mil a year from the Fifa game.

Point is , if you asked him to put his hand on hs heart today , he'd say he wanted to come back .

I would imagine he'll stay until Taggart does one , but after that , all bets are off . THIS is what comes of player power , but this time we could actually benefit .

I don't ever want to question the oracle... but come on. Rooney? Here? Before he's 35 and crocked -- a la Gascoigne?

I'll believe it when I see it. Although I'd imagine even then I'd have to rub my eyes and pinch myself a few times.

Nope. He's worth £35m WITH his wife.

Rooney's stock -- advertisements and all that -- will be sky high come the Euros. No doubt he'll hit his stride again in qualifiers for england, and then he'll be the apple in the eye of the public, again. Right now, with all the controversy and on the field shiteness, it's easy to forget just how good he is. And where there's talent, there's money.

He'll be back soon. Just like ladyboy -- although hopefully not soon enough for the derby.

I'm going out on a limb here and saying Rooney will be one of those early peakers - a la Owen, Fowler, peaking between 20-24. In two years' time he'll be a shadow of the player we've become used to. You have other strikers like Drogba, Wright, Henry Shearer etc who peaked much later in ther careers, but I don't think Rooney will be like this.

Sorry to pick up this again but is Henry Shearer another player like Young Barry Milner who used to play for Villa?

No one has mentioned that if he goes on a free, to somebody else, we lose out on a percentage of the fee (was it 25% im not sure).
We dearly need that money. We would be shafted again if he went to Real or something on a free.
