A plea

If it's continually underfunded, of course it's unsustainable.
Think it's past the tipping point now. The perfect storm of COVID quickly followed by the war in Ukraine have probably put it in a position that leaves only a two tier system workable going forward. My experience has been France and Spain for the last 30+ years and they work well.

It really depends on where in London you go,there are several places that no longer have an English (British?) identity. I spent six months the year before last in Harringay and that is definitely true there. The tabloids also feed off the NHS situation to support their narrative and again hard to deny it has become unsustainable as a free at the point of access model. Challenging times for the UK.
I keep hearing about this British/English identity… but I have no idea what that is ?? I wish someone could explain it to me plainly

A weird sense of entitlement and superiority because of a war with Germany and winning a World Cup in 1966.

And of course the newest traits, turkey teeth, cocaine and Botox.

Think that covers a lot of it.

I’d say English, definitely not a British attitude.

I don't live up North so appreciate I have a different perspective to most blues.
You are all entitled to your own views - but I'm sick of these mainstream politicians who have done nothing positive for me in decades.
They're all frauds. Farage has flaws but I believe he's the best chance for Britain. Country's on it's arse and it isn't going to change with Labour or the snivelling tories. Lib dems and greens are absurd.

Farage is a failed mainstream politician and fraud though. He has made a career of lying through his teeth and making things up to further his own agenda.

I have no experience whatsoever in politics and cannot claim to have outstanding success in any professional field whatsoever. But look at their desperate scrabble for candidates - giving high ranking council positions to teenage boys who don't know their arse from their elbow and have literally no idea how governance works.

if I was willing to click a few links on a website and send in a headshot I'd definitely get a shot at a local council seat and have a very decent chance of standing in a general election as a Reform candidate.

Tell us again which parties are absurd?

As much as I'm not arsed about England being slagged off, there's still welsh, Irish and Scottish that are the exact same.

It's still not the dystopian hellhole the tabloids depict.

Having spent a lot of time in London over the years - mates who moved there to further careers and girls that I met through the same mates, London to me still is and always has been a city of " haves" and " have nots ".

It`s one of the best places to live if you`ve got money and probably one of the worst to live in if you haven`t got money, as it just swallows you up in the daily grind and rubs your nose in the fact that you can`t afford to live the life of the wealthy, who can quite literally be living just around the corner from you.

There`s always been areas of London, that you wouldn`t go to, same as every city in the world, it`s just that in London, there`s many more of these areas as it`s so big and now the right wing press are making out like it`s something that`s just happened.

Has it ? Different interpretations of statistics and 'crime' enable skewed views. He has ruined London. I despise him.
Do you not think that a lot of the ills the UK is experiencing can be traced back to three things
1 - Thatcher’s privatisation of basically everything and destruction of British industry
2 - Tory austerity and the lack of appropriate response to the 2007 financial crisis
3 - Brexit making the country dramatically poorer

Now Farage was an investment banker, but there’s not really sufficient proof he had a hand in point 2, but point 3 he is directly responsible for. Note that none of these problems are caused by migrants, refugees or small boats. The only way the UK will get better is by progressive tax policies (making the rich individuals and corporations pay their fair share) and ideally rejoining the EU. All of which is the opposite of what Reform will do.

Farage himself has advocated for a US style healthcare system, which would probably mean family members of most people on this forum will die due to being unable to afford care, Farage has promised low taxes that benefit only the wealthy, and cutting net zero (you know, killing the planet and fracking the country)

Dystopian hellhole is a bit strong and the tabloids will always go over the top. But walk through Wembley or down the Mile End Rd for example and they aren't "English" in feel, which is what Reform will concentrate on.

Same could be said for may parts of West Yorkshire, East Lancashire, Birmingham, Manchester and even parts of Liverpool, like around Breck Road and Anfield.
