A plea

While this sucks, loads of councils have been doing this for ages. Loads of them are nearly bankrupt, because the Tories spent 14 years reducing their central government funding by almost half. I'm in Somerset, and ours has been going up 5% every year for yonks, whether it's Tories or Liberal Democrats in control.

Reform ran on a platform of reducing it because they thought there was a load of stuff they could get away with cutting, because they're mostly inexperienced and rather stupid, and they are now being hit by reality.
I think it was Andrea Jenkyns who said that when she became mayor of Lincoln for Reform the first thing she would do is get rid of the Diversity Team to save money. When she was elected she found out the council didn’t have a Diversity team to abolish. She just wanted to sound like the MAGA crew.

Politicians can now say whatever they want, without it having to do anything remotely with the truth. People then believe them. And no one seems to have the balls to really stand up and challenge them. Mr Trump says hello.

Most councils have been chronically underfunded and the vast majority of spending is on statutory services. There really isn’t much discretionary spending. Not want people want to hear I know.

I wish people would make their own minds up after at least a passing nod of attempting to find out what is really happening in your local area, nationally and globally.

I have a love of history and if people really want to be scared please read Frank McDonoughs books- The Weimar Years & The Hitler Years, Triumph 1933-1939.

He does have a 3rd book Hitler Years Disaster,1940-1945 but boy to we get a lot wrong in getting to 1940.

I keep telling myself it will never get that bad again, but if anyone can tell me the difference in how the people in power and ICE operate in modern USA & the people in power and the SS in Germany from 1933 I would sure like to hear.

I didn’t start the thread in my defence.

I don't live up North so appreciate I have a different perspective to most blues.
You are all entitled to your own views - but I'm sick of these mainstream politicians who have done nothing positive for me in decades.
They're all frauds. Farage has flaws but I believe he's the best chance for Britain. Country's on it's arse and it isn't going to change with Labour or the snivelling tories. Lib dems and greens are absurd.

I think the reaction of Farage to the disgraceful trump comments, speaks volumes. Even Starmer (who I think is as weak as p) showed some backbone . Farage is a grotesque Trump sycophant. Even if he came to power, he wouldn't overlap with Trump. If the Dems are back in, they will think of Farage as Trump like dog crap on the UK shoe.

Greens like Corbyn are automatically vetoed due to their stance on national defence and nuclear deterrent.

That worked out well for Ukraine.

Nigel Farage is not the answer mate.

He's the answer to quite a few questions Jamo.

Like who is the biggest belled in the UK?

And who has managed to convince a lot of the working class that he is a man of the people just like them, because he likes a pint and dislikes immigration, all the while this multi-millionaire has gotten richer and made his paymasters incredibly more wealthy by shorting the pound, meanwhile the rest of us have been made poorer by his actions that said we'd all be better off?

I’ve disengaged from politics and current affairs a bit as I’m finding it all too grim.

I don’t know the answer to this as they only talk about immigrants when I see them but do reform have any policies on how they plan to improve access to healthcare, public services, housing, improve eduction standards etc?

The main concern for me is hoping my kids can live in an environmentally stable world which seems like a pipe dream and reform will definitely not help with that.
