Reidy's Bottle Of Grecian

The Unobstructed View
If you've had a hold of one of the balls used in the P.L. you've probabably repeated the words of your arld fella all them years ago when you got your first 'casey',"thats not a football !! when i was a lad.....blah,blah blah" and if you've had the opportunity to stick a size nine behind one then you would've instantly become Ari Haan , jonny metgod or some other long range merchant from your youth. now we get a new ball for every league/ tournament. what balls do you remember from your younger days ? leather or plastic...after all i reckon we've all had a vinyl one thats been repaired with a red hot knife on the stove. here's a few to get us started:

i had a vinyl 1 endorsed by karl heinz rummenigger it had instructions on how to do a banana kick....never mastered that !!

the classic adidas tango

mitre multiplex

the mitre 1 with the red band (early 80's)

the white with black dots (germans still favour this but now looks silver)

whats your fav. design from the past and which colour/pattern would you like to see make a return ? lets face it we don't really need a winter ball do we, and why does it have to bo the ugliest ball of all time .

one of the plastic leather ones made from octagons sewn together.

only ball i could bend round a brick wall into the garage door we used as goals.

I think the Addidas Tango was the first to get away from the traditional soccer ball patterns so I'll always remember that one.

Cut my forehead on the laces of an old leather octagon Suits trying to emulate Dixie, saw stars as well boy they were hard especially in the wet

they needed wearing in, brand new they were like bricks, but a few weeks of pavement play got the casing nice and supple.

I remember when I was ten playing for the school team it rained all through the game and the ball was like concrete I took a penalty ran up and whacked it expecting to score and it never reached the goalie:lol::lol:
