A Friday Pint

Groups of Scandi men are my missus and her mates favourite fellas in and around Mathew St.

They want to buy all the " pretty ladies " a drink, but unlike some English fellas expect nothing in return, other than to have a laugh
They are my favourite too. We shared a taxi with two reds up to Goodison for the derby years back and they paid our taxi. Extra beer money.

Heaven and hell.

Im at my local that does its own brews and they have my favourite brew on for the first time in 8 years - the beer that sold me to the small-town I now live in.

Trouble is the big table is full of wimmin ... and they're at the ear splitting loud, shrill stage of socialising that shouldn't be allowed in pubs. They're all talking at the same time and nobody is listening to the other.

Sake.

Pull up a stool at the end of the bar as far away from them as possible ?

Im in Hamburg (on a cruise) - first time in Germany. After walking 15 miles around the various Christmas markets (because its what you do - the missus says) and then doing the same this evening under the Christmas lights, I determined that I would try a German draft ale in Germany to see what all the fuss was about.

After all those laps of the town i only found one building with the word "bar" on it. Went in to find the freuline not wearing lederhosen, and worse "we don't serve beer"

Ffs, no wonder this lot don't win wars.

With that and the only bitter available on ship being John Smiths - I have to admit this hasn't exactly been a great cruise.
