7th -> EL what does it take

I can't see how playing Thursday/Sunday should affect a professional football club, when all they do is play football. For me that is just an excuse, we should be looking to win that competition, should we get there.
And when or if we qualify that will be the attitude we all must have. Ive argued against it and said why. But if/when we're in it then we play in it warts and all and make sure the PL performances don't get dragged into it if they happen to be poor - pre or post a EL game.

No excuses in the PL. It's a stand alone competition.

Lets not forget when we were in europa last,we had our worst run in the league for 3 months, when we had no europa league games as well, for those that say it effects us etc

Now that Utd have won the LC, we could be certain of 7th place getting a Europa league spot as soon as 12 March.

Manchester City must first win their replay against Huddersfield on 1 March, and then if all 3 of Arsenal, Tottenham and City go through to the semifinals, 7th place will be an EL spot. (unless one of the current top 6 falls both down the table and wins the FA Cup)
Which would be no problem as we would be 6th then, no?

I'd be stoked to be in the Europa League next season, of course it's a big ask considering we'd be just 12 months into the Moshiri/Walsh/Koeman & co project but I'd be more than confident in the club and squad as long as we adequately improved the squad. We now have the money to do so and I don't see why we couldn't rely on one or two of Walsh, Connoly, Dowell, Browning, Kenny, Pennington or another youngster to be able to take the next step to a rotation option next season.

Playing in Europe will help to continue raising the profile of the club, allow us to sign better players, could help us have Lukaku sign a new player and will up the clubs revenues.

"Europa League football will persuade better players to sign for us".

?!?!

When we've been in Europe in the last decade when has that worked for us?

There's some wishful thinking going on here.

Nevertheless, it does seem we are going into that competition and it has to be borne without excuses.

Lukaku joining permanently?

Quick question? What happens if a top 5 side wins the fa cup and man u now wins the europa leauge and gets into champions league. Will that open up 8th place for the europa leauge?

We will have to a much deeper and bigger squad than the last time we competed. We already have more quality midfielders than playing time available and if we really want the kids to come through we need as many matches as possible for rotation. There is no downside that I can see.

To be fair big fella. Let me answet you question with another.

When have we ever financially been in a position to capitalise on us playing in Europe?

Are we now though? Aren't we limited by wage ceilings? We can move players in and out and hope they are an upgrade, but that will be incremental and nowhere near enough to cope with a potential 30% increase in games.
