Surely that's your fit and proper person test right there. How could the Premier League green flag someone who is likely to stiff it's own members on transfer fees.
To be honest it's a miracle they've dragged this out for so long. All they had to do was look at the track record with the clubs they own...now months later no decision either way. If it takes this long to determine clearly they are not fit and proper.

I feel a problem for a club like us is that we're up North in a deprived city. Leicester won the title and FA Cup, had numerous seasons in europe yet couldn't increase revenues to the required amount.

Compare that to WHU who have been gifted a stadium for nearly free, and based in London they have a much easier opportunity to increase revenues. Spurs had the same advantage being based in the capital over clubs like us, Newcastle & Villa back when we were neck and neck at times in the early/mid 00's.

Think I read somewhere that Palace are growing their revenues at a large rate - no coincidence yet another club based in the capital.

Whilst we need clever owners, I also think we need someone to be able to invest as I dont think we have the capability to get to the same organic stage as Spurs based on our location.

But we are no where near the maximum of the scope to draw that conclusion mate. On location If you look at the geographical region 3 of the biggest income generating clubs in world football are less then 35 miles away from us.

A problem is either a surrender or a challenge.

I agree, we clearly need some investment - I’d love someone to come in clear the debt and capitalise the business, but I’d want it to stop there, I’d prefer they were good managers and put the right structures in place rather then be drip fed by them for enternity.

Everton have to aim to be self sufficient, there is no other way in my opinion. Anything else is just a sugar high.

Well R&M stopped MSP essentially buying us. Am I right that MSP didn’t want to pay them their loan back straight away?.
So, it seems logical to me that if administration becomes an option, R&M (offshore very shady types and likely crooks) see sense and see that they are better off having the club not go into administration.
So, my gut feel is that eventually we will be owned by MSP and that they will be able to secure long term debt to cover the stadium costs (rather than the frankly eye watering rates we’re paying right now)

MSP had no intention of paying back R&M, certainly not in the short to medium term anyway.

They were essentially going to purchase the club over an extended period, increasing their shareholding in something like 25% increments. They basically raised the money for their initial 25% from their investor pool and would look to raise further cash to cover future increments at relatively fixed points in the future.

The issue was that R&M have the right to request their loan is repaid partially or in full upon any change of ownership and in this case they viewed MSP's investment as down valuing the club. By all accounts they wanted partial repayment of their loan but MSP didn't have the money to do so and Moshiri wouldn't use any of his own capital. Hence it then turned into a straight loan from MSP to cover the stadium build.

Somthing along those lines anyway,

MSP don't have the capital to purchase the club as a whole, not unless Moshiri was giving away his equity, writing off his loans and they had the ability to re-structure our remaining debt over the long term at a much lower interest rate.

Said something similar the other day. Be surprised if MSP have fully gone away. Although according to Esk they are not the mystery alternative bidder he is bigging up.

I think when we assess these debates my friend we need to categorise them into pre and post FFP, as the rules have changed the game so much (for the worse imo).

Whilst the North West is indeed a powerhouse - Utd, RS & City all power grabbed before FFP was introduced in 2012. Since FFP only really 2 clubs have considerably increased their revenues outside the red cartel + City/Chelsea - Spurs & WHU who are both London clubs.

I think Spurs have done very well to slide themselves into the "big 6" despite little success but at the same time, I think if you put a club the size of Everton, Villa or Newcastle into the capital during the 00's years one of us could have easily been in their position.

Not taking away from Levy doing a stellar job but interestingly though I imagine most Spurs fans would argue that they haven't been a success despite the growth in revenues / the new ground. I imagine most of their fans would swap places with Man City if offered.

WHU were just lucky Karen Brady and Boris Johnson are two Tory luvvies who ripped off the taxpayer for the Olympic Stadium. Moyes has done well at WHU but when you factor how much it would have cost them to have paid/built a 60k ground in London - they'll have massively struggled in getting it done. We're having a tough time building a 53k ground in the North West.

As mentioned many times tho - the rules as they currently stand hinder every side outside the big 6.

Im sure every football fan would swap places with Man City?

Fundamentally MSP don't have the money and are a more legit 777
