6 + 2 Point Deductions

They know the result of the decision now, the delay is to find the answers to the questions about the decision.

I think the longer it goes the more chance of a positive outcome.
I wonder if the PL know the outcome but are negotiating a punishment with Everton, knowing that Everton could beat them in a court of law.

PL "What punishment can we give you to make sure this goes away but leaves a precedence to other clubs to deter them".

Quite feasible.... The sticking point could be Everton feel like no points or even no penalty at all and the PL are yet to make a decision on how to dress this up as they don`t want to appear weak or like they are back tracking.

It has been known to happen in other sports, I`m sure there is politics going on behind the scenes.

Its also absurd a team should benefit from a punishment to a team(s) for something that took place when they we're not even in the league.
Fair point. To be honest, I dont want to see any teams with point deductions (unless valid reasons like match fixing and stuff). Not just because this has been an absolutely mess, but also because its not an enjoyable side of football.

I aren't going to reply specifically to all the comments back on this because youre all pretty much saying the same thing, but I dont think youre putting yourself in anyone else's shoes. As one commenter said, the goalposts have been moved (potentially going to be moved again). Luton didn't move them, the pl did. They have been told that we broke the rules and a "fair" punishment has been dished to us, therefore they are out of the r zone. If they are now told "oh sorry, we effed the points and that position you thought you were in, you're not there now" of course they will feel hard done by. They didn't ask for this s show. Nor did any team around us (apart from maybe Burney with their attempts to sue). We are obviously the ones getting royally messed about but the other teams around us also don't know whats going on, so don't know what's safe and what isn't. And if it goes down to the end of the season for this latest breach, no one will know who's actually safe or not.

And for the record I aren't saying we shouldn't get any points back. I full expect and hope us to get something back for the unfair punishment on us, but you have to think other teams will be unhappy with the PLs s show as well.

This whole mess is unfair on us, but also teams around us. Obviously more so on us though as we're the ones being punished
This nonsense mate. The other teams should all assume we will receive all of the points back and play accordingly. If we get the points back they have absolutely no reason to feel hard done by at all. They're in the position of someone who has found a wallet full of cash, alerted the authorities and are waiting to see if anyone claims it. If they choose to spend all of the cash before waiting the appropriate period to see if anyone claims it that is completely on them if they end up having to pay it back to the rightful owner.

Yes, but for sure they wont come to a decision this morning and announce this afternoon, they know how high profile this is and regardless of the decision they will be bombarded with questions from the media and they will want to have every potential question covered with an articulate and justifiable answer.

Also like many of said the timing of the release of the decision will be a huge factor.
Everton live on sky Monday in front of the worlds cameras, if they uphold the decision they wont want there to be huge protects for the world to see.
I’ve seen all the theories about MNF and I just don’t see that they’d delay a positive verdict for them til after MNF.

Yeah, there would be protests but (I hate to say it) if the appeal is upheld the narrative will be vindication for the PL- the media reaction will be that if two panels have reached the same conclusion it must be right and the fans have to accept it etc. I don’t agree btw but that’s what the narrative would be. And that would be good for the PL no matter when the verdict is out.

I think what they wouldn’t want on MNF is the humiliation of a verdict that goes against them, if the verdict criticises the PL heavily even Sky wouldn’t be able to avoid discussing it in the context of an Everton home game.

IMO if we get to Tuesday without news, we can be pretty sure the full -10 hasn't been upheld.

We are in this to win. All or nothing. Victory or relegation. They can take their negotiation and stick it up their fit and proper test.

I disagree mate, with respect. I think if they have been told that the punishment is fair, then why would they not take it as truth - also I thibk the clubs will take your approach, im thinking for of their fans. I know of we were told we were clear of the relegation zone, then told that actually we are back in it when no games have been played then we wpuld feel hard done by (evidence: this thread).

I think the analogy you have used is kind of right but ill add to it. Mr Luton finds a wallet and takes it to officer Prem. Officer Prem says thanks, we will wait to see if anyone claims it (or investigates the PSR breach). Then officer Prem calls Mr Luton and says we have dont what we needed to, do with as you will (the 10 pts deduction) Mr Luton spends the money, only to get a phone call from Prem to say they need the money back (our hopeful points reinstatement).

That might sound quite a ludicrous story, but what's happening is quite ludicrous isn't it.

But nothing has changed for Luton it hasn't affected how they need to approach games and they've always known we were appealing so we might get points back it would be a bit annoying for them to be back below us but it would be on merit so they'd have no right to be aggrieved at all. It would be different if it was right at the end of the season when they could argue it had affected how they'd played in games thinking a point was enough for example when it turned out they needed to win but at this stage us getting 5 points back for example would still mean they were 5 points closer to us than they have any right to be so it would be very brassy to say they were being treated badly.
