6 + 2 Point Deductions

So let me get this straight..... regarding the 2nd charge the back stop date is after the final game of the season right?

Does anyone find this very strange of the lateness of this considering they changed the rules to ensure a team could be charged and punished within the same season. They were able to collate the figures by 31st December, announce a charge within 2 weeks after these were provided and yet we have to believe it then takes another 4 months for the punishment to be provided.

Stinks of just waiting to see what the team ends up on so they know how many points they need to deduct for them to go down.

Surely they should have implemented a process in which this is all resolved within 4-6 weeks max so by mid Feb the punishment is known and implemented.
the proposed amount to be deducted will be known before the end, but the appeal against it won't be heard til after. Nothing extra to be taken off, but could be bad if we finish ahead of Forest in 17th and they got them back and we didn't

does anyone know how bad Forest's breach is in comparison to our 19m?

Said before... because they've not thought it through a team will suffer heavily by the end of the season.

Wouldn't even be surprised if clubs sued the league on the back of it

There’s a PL meeting with the 20 PL teams this week to discuss “FFP” and potential new changes that they want to implement ASAP. Potentially next season.
The proposed rules are to ensure the EPL fall into line with the European model, which makes sense given English clubs play in Europe. However the European model is even more prohibitive than it is currently I think.

….hardly a surprise. If they change it demonstrates that the rules are not fit for purpose, and if it’s agreed the current rules are not fit for purpose then anybody breaching them surely has to have minimal punishment.

For me, that the fundamental issue here. Any changes should surely help our cause.
they've already acknowledged they aren't fit for purpose as the rules are changing soon.

It's a bit of a pickle.

Today isn’t it? A disaster that we are bumbling along with interim and limp board members. Proper hard faced experts could have sat in that meeting kicking up a fuss on our behalf, saying it’s fine to ruin us with a scheme you are all sat here saying isn’t fit for purpose (Newcastle already come out to say they have the funds but cannot invest to improve the squad due to the current rules).

I imagine Chelsea and City will be lobbying hard for changes as we speak

….not sure if it’s F2F or via Zoom, but if it’s the latter I wouldn’t be surprised if Super Silk is listening and advising.

Absolutely coming this, it’s been a complete clusterFuch from minute one.

Its messed with the entire seasons fixtures and league table, and will continue to do so with the further penalties to us and Notts Forest yet to be decided by kangaroo court. What little integrity this league ever had was destroyed totally this season.

Actually, the stupid clubs who go down will probably try to sue whatever team(s) stays up instead of the cause of the problem, which is the actual premier league - look at all the talk of Burnley, Leicester etc suing Everton?!

You are right. This meeting can’t change anything about this appeal but I hope our representative has the balls to make clear that we are going to be kicking and screaming about it charges even beyond that, and beyond the season, and that we will use the courts if necessary.

Make it clear that just hammering us (and maybe Forest) then changing the rules so the rest of them can’t get done will lead to us causing the maximum disruption possible. Even at this late stage pressure from the majority of clubs to do away with these points deductions leading to appeals and legal action beyond the season could cause the PL to change course and maybe look at a negotiated settlement so they can quietly move on to a more fit for purpose system.
