And it is 17 games to play in the final.............. 8 down, 9 more (hopefully) to go. If a team wants to do well in the Europa, it needs a very large squad.
 
Of course City will be arsed about the league cup, they've put a strong team out in every round. Last seasons FA Cup final will mean they wont leave nothing to chance

it would be so liverpool for them to finish 5th and this to then happen. doubt UEFA would enforce it myself.
 

I want Europe of any kind. OK we haven't got the biggest squad but we could give the likes of Robles, Hibbert, Alcaraz, Stones, Naismith, Velios Gueye etc game time as well as using the lads we have out on loan like Duffy and Lundstram. Also we could give some of the young lads a game like McAleny. What you have to remember is not many teams treat it seriously so you can win through the group playing those lads then play your main players later on. Can't understand any fan not wanting Europe.
 
Really hope we dont end up in that Europa League, nightmare of a comp, if Liverpool were stuck in that this season i dont think they would be in the race for 4th, if ever there was a season killer its the EL. Be better to miss out on that and have a real go at winning the Carling Cup next season
 
Think they've ruined the Europa league by letting champions league clubs into it half way through. Just makes it 10x harder to win.

Can't argue with that. The introduced the league system in the CL because the 'big teams' were getting knocked out early doors and they protect them even further by giving them yet another shot. Just UEFA pissing on the rest again.

This. They are in every competition to win them.

Of course it is.....for acouple of reasons.

Bob would take a completely different view of the Europa League than the managers of those two clubs and there would be a positive vibe around the club as (if) we progressed throught it.

And we as fans would embrace it, the way we have before.

Half the problem with those teams was that the whole club, supporters and players alike, came to regard it as a chore.

But more importantly the Europa becomes a gateway to the CL from the end of next season.

Imagine the buzz we will have this time next year if we are in the knockout stages of the Europa League knowing that the prize for winning it is a ticket to the Big League.

But that's all by the by.....we will be playing in the CL come August this year.....:D

Spot on.

They should stop that.

I think another thing they should do is move the Europa League to the Tuesday night and have Thursday night as one of the CL nights.

That way the Europa would become a curtain raiser to European weeks instead of an "after the Lord Mayor's show" type of event.
