Spit away b) Team 41 has had long discussions with team 81 and we have discovered that there is a little known facht in pure and applied mathematics that actually deems it necessary to treat a multiplication by zero as a division by 2 when the first two numbers of the calculation are the same. Hence the question becomes

40 + 40/2 + 1 which by the simple appication of BODMAS results in an answer of 61.

BTW 42, whilst usually the answer to life the universe and everything in this context it is just for dumbasses
