...of course I've watched him. In fact I've watched him lots and I don't deny he's a real talent. The lad goes past people like they are standing still and can pick a pass but my major, major concern is what he does when the opposition has the ball. For example, playing in his own age group against Iraq his team were defending a lead in a crucial World Cup group game. He was moved to right midfield and became such a liability not picking up his full back that he was dragged off. Everybody has to put in a shift these days and he really is looking a luxury. I think this is the reason he isn't getting games and can't secure a place. Surely its not a fitness thing, he's a pro and a postman from Baghdad was running past him like he was wearing lead boots. More generally, he only fleetingly contributes and other than a few glimpses v Arsenal I'm afraid I remain unconvinced. Apologies folks, its just my opinion and I genuinely hope I'm wrong.
