3-4-3 do we have players for it currently?

Don't like it..

City took themselves out of a league challange experimenting with it.

Wigan took themselves down with it.

Players don't seem to like it.

To throw the odd Suprise with it...maybe, but everton's back 4 has been pretty solid over the years, to come in and change it would be pretty stupid IMO. We need a couple of quality players not a massive change in formation!
Yeah, and they saved themselves previous season thanks to switching to this formation which is somehow missed by majority of members questioning this formation.

Regarding City - I don't like their personnel for this one, Clichy is horrible wingback and Milner don't have many qualities either for it. Plus they were missing Kompany for majority of season, would never switch to 3 man-defense without him. But I'm not Mancini, so...

As arsenal proved in the demolition of Wigan.

I hope we play 4-3-3 next season.
.................Howard...................
.Coleman..Jags...Distin....Baines..
.................Gibson.....................
..............Fellaini...Pienaar..........
.Naismith......................Mirallas..
.................Jelavic.....................

Obviously Naismith would need replacing, prob jelavic too but I like 4-3-3. Tbf tho I don't see a problem with our 4-2-3-1 apart from it doesn't make the most of mirallas and fellaini needs to be CM in it.
Is this seriously an argument? Wigan with half of the squad playing at Emirates and being very fatigued (physicall and mentally) after FA Cup final? I never use our 0:3 loss to Wigan in discussion regarding Martinez or 3-4-3, but maybe I should start if lads here are ready to go into such extremes...

I like your 4-3-3 btw, bar Naismith ouf course. Not sure what kind of player I would like to replace him there though. And with current squad I would probably prefer 4-4-1-1 with Mirallas playing off Jelavic, and Gibson + Fellaini behind them. Still need right midfielder though, more of a priority than striker for me. With Coleman as RB would prefer someone creative and hard working over typical winger, more or less in Pienaar mould, can be left footed.

Not to mention Mancini decided sometimes to play him INSIDE Kolarov. Clichy is a Left back, and not a center back.

Anyway, the main strength of a wingback formation is, besides the obvious out ball, the fluidity to adjust to the opponent forwards. Think Bielsa who is not afraid to change from three to four to three within 90 minutes, and in fact his team is trained to do so.
