I initially thought this, and maybe this is just blind selfish optimism. But from what I've been reading over the last couple days, I feel pretty confident the joint bid will win
 

Generally I think it's time to stop making countries spend billions to get the tournament. That limits who can host and may force combined bids to become more common but it's time to stop throwing money away for FIFA to profit

The billions of dollars also don't go directly to FIFA. It isn't here pay FIFA a billion bucks and you can have the world cup. The billions of dollars come in because places like South Africa, Brazil, and Morocco don't have the stadia, or infrastructure required for them to properly put on the event. I mean, do you want them to play on fields that seat 10k with bad grass and poor telecommunication set ups?

That's why it costs billions of dollars because they keep giving it to countries now that don't have the infrastructure. It's the same thing with the Olympics.

I get all that. What I want is for countries to stop killing themselves to build all that is necessary and to just use the existing stadiums. That means for South America basically nothing but a joint bid would work but thats probably best for everyone. My feeling is the Olympics, and especially the winter Olympics, should just pick a host city or two and go there since the facilities are so specialized

I agree... I re-read your post and realized I misunderstood it and probably agree with you.

I attempted to delete it but you're too quick. I think you're completely right.
 
Surely the North American bid will win out. Geographically Morocco seems a bit close to Qatar to be the next host and will need 9 stadiums to be built and make less money. Can't see FIFA wanting more risk. Make more sense for Morocco to go for 2030 after they have built some of these grounds.
 

The joint bid won. No need to worry about qualifiers for the Americans on here in what will be tough spots in that 48 teamer.
