Entirely on brand Trump responded to Kelly’s questioning of his derogatory remarks about women with more derogatory comments about her.

“Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump doubled down on criticism of a female debate moderator who pressed him on his history of offensive comments Thursday.

In a call-in interview on CNN Friday, the real estate mogul said Fox News host Megyn Kelly was “off base” when she asked him about derogatory comments he has made about women, his past support for abortion and his criticism of his Republican opponents.

“She gets out and she starts asking me all sorts of ridiculous questions,” he told CNN host Don Lemon. “You know, you could see there was blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever. In my opinion, she was off base.”

Trump added that he was not alone, arguing that the “hundreds of thousands of people on Twitter” had also written that they did not like Kelly’s questions.


In one of the first questions of the debate, Kelly asked Trump about comments in which he “called women you don’t like ‘fat pigs, dogs, slobs, and disgusting animals,'” “made disparaging comments about women’s looks” and told a contestant on Celebrity Apprentice that “it would be a pretty picture to see her on her knees.”

Trump responded by arguing that he was kidding and that he didn’t have time for “total political correctness.” After the debate, he blasted that and other questions as “nasty” and “unfair.”

Lots to unpack here, but the bolded, I mean, this is a guy wanting to the President of the US. Or maybe he was actually President at this point. Who knows. I have no idea when this is from, but the guy is using Tweets as his evidence for the questions being nasty

Significantly disagree with that proposal.

Many people have work and caregiving duties or have physical difficulties getting to polling stations. Vote by mail provides them access so they can exercise their right.

Delegation to snother person would open up a difficulty in stopping voter fraud and enable coercion or false representation eg “it is OK love, I’ll just vote for you, you stay at home and look after the kids”

Right, the system works fine as it is and needs little revision. Fraud is extremely low, almost unmeasurable, and ease of access is high.

This is partially because photo IDs aren’t as common as many people assume: 18% of all citizens over the age of 65, 16% of Latino voters, 25% of Black voters, and 15% of low-income Americans lack acceptable photo ID. Elderly and low-income voters may not have the availability, financial resources, or mobility to obtain the necessary identification, and rural voters may face significant barriers to obtaining the necessary documentation due to their geographic isolation. Further, many rural and Native Americans born at home or on reservations and tribal lands lack the mandated paperwork needed to obtain a government-issued ID that fits the legal requirements to vote.

Maybe every state could provide IDs for free if required, although this still complicates the issue unnecessarily (lost your ID, can't vote?). But you can't require a $65 ID to be able to vote, this is effectively a poll tax.

He wasn’t President yet. The comments were made after she moderated either a Republican primary debate in 2015, or the first debate with Hilary 2016. Can’t remember for sure which one it was.
