Politician going back on their word shocker! There's lots of regulatory issues regarding fixed terms that people are now hurrying to understand.

...if it is, Corbyn will lose disastrously. The Labour Party know this but they will replace him with a young Corbynist. 5 more years in the wilderness, followed by another heavy defeat before reason is seen.

In my opinion, if the announcement is to call a General Election, the Labour Party should be very worried.
Corbyn will never get elected and a huge defeat could jeopardise the chances of Labour regaining power for a long, long time.

This

I expect the party to splinter at that point between the radicals and the moderates

Basically, we have aeons of Tory rule to look forward to

Pass the bleach

...Sky suggesting the lack of a Prime Minesterial sign on the plinth suggests it's a party political announcement.
The secrecy and sudden nature of the statement however sort of negate this. If it was her resignation you'd use the same logic with the plinth.

If it is something that isn't significant and related solely to the party, the press will have a field day regarding how they let speculation arise.

As flawed as Corbyn is, I'd have him over another Tory government

The point is moot though, because he's going to get utterly wellied
You're allowing political rhetoric, mainly that he's Labour so better than the Tory option, to override the logical assumption that he'd be awful.

I'm not a Labour supporter to be fair, although nor am I a fan of the Tory government. Yet the thought of Corby in power really worries me.

Not because he's Labour or anything like that but rather he lives in bloody cloud-cuckoo land; him in power would be a short-lived catastrophe.

Hmmm

If it is an election, I was hoping not to vote but my local (Tory) seat isn't as safe as I thought. Although the UKIP votes will probably go to Conservative. Will begrudgingly have to go with Labour.

I think a Corbyn government on the whole would be better for the poor, sick and weakest amongst society, because he actually seems to have a shred of conscience about him

As you say, he's an idealist and I would probably not personally benefit from a Corbyn government, but I'm not benefiting under this Tory one either, so if I'm sodded either way, I might as well vote for the bloke whose going to help those worse off than me, rather than the woman who will keep stomping on them
