If anyone wanted any more reason to play the youth team in the League Cup, the naming of it of the Carabao Cup should be the tipping point.

Whole thing means nothing.

Disagree on that Tubey, the name of the trophy means zip... winning it and lifting a piece of silverware is what we need, whether it's the perceived lowest ranked trophy or otherwise... and it automatically qualifies for Europe the following season.

Definitely need early signings so they can gel in pre-season. Don't want to be waiting til end of august with these games.

You're entitled to your view. Personally, I'd happily see Everton not even enter the thing.

good job we are playing early, playing a game or two in Europe against dogs might gel the team and give them a little confidence boost ( if they like )

If you notice Mourinho usually always tries to win the League Cup, because he knows it will give his players a winning mentality

If it's good enough for an ultra competitive win-a-holic like him to consider worthwhile then it should be good enough for all of us

Honestly, Chelsea away is the only one we should be worried about. If we have a strong transfer window, we should aim to pick up good results at City away and United away, where we did okayish last season, and Spurs at home we should be right up for that.

Just reading month by month and it really is a difficult set of fixtures the way they have all landed. Yes everyone plays every team twice but there are momentum stoppers and tough away games grouped near each other. There doesn't seem to be a period where you think we can go on a good run.

Maybe I'm looking for problems that don't exist but comparing how our 38 have worked out compared to Liverpool's tells me we're in for a tough season.

Win the two home games, pick up points away, we'd come out of the run of our hardest games of the season in a decent position with a more favourable fixture list than anyone else. This is a good thing. The run in will be great if we can stay near the top 4.

What a bummer! Gotta play everyone twice though i suppose, just means we gotta get out the blocks early! No excuses

Good.

Getting so many tough away games out the way so early will allow us to settle into a stride afterwards and hopefully be pushing those opening teams by christmas. Get a couple wins from them at least and we could be looking strong.

Worst case scenario is the the team hit rock bottom by september and then have the rest of the season to pick themselves back up again
