2009 FA Cup Final

Disappointing day. We scored too early and hadn't a clue what to do from that point.

Chelsea were better than us.

Isn't it incredible how that has continually happened with us over the years regardless of manager or team. Proper rabbit in headlights, "oh my god we've scored within 10 minutes what are we going to do now?!"

It’s actually crazy to think we’ve only been in one major cup final in 25 years and only two in 31 years.

Our mediocrity runs so deep. We’re terrified to achieve anything. Smaller clubs have won cups and got to more finals in that time with worse teams.

The philosophy of the board runs through to the players and then the fans.

It’s going to take Moshiri/Ancelotti a long time to undo the Kenwright/Moyes years. Getting him off the board would be a big start.

i was on the second row in the lower tier without an ounce of shade all game, looked like this fella at full time, burnt to a crisp

Wasn't it about 100 degrees on the right side of the pitch in the second half? I remember watching Osman and Hibbert visibly wilt in the heat.

In 68 we had to wait 2 years before winning our next trophy, then mid 80s just til 87 before winning anything.
I see what you're getting at. But for me failure at the last hurdle to do the treble in 85 was the worst. We would never have been overlooked as we are now if we'd been the first English club to have done it.

All I remember is coming home after this match and being so distraught that I stood in the garden and stared at a bush for like 30 minutes.

I watched at home. Got absolutely steaming during the match. Can’t remember the 2nd half. Had to have a lie down when it finished. #lad

Does anyone remember the Tim Cahill goal he scored away at Fiorentina which wasn't given? It was like an overhead kick and I'm sure it was disallowed for offside when it didn't look offside. But no repeats of it were shown as far as I can remember.

I don’t even remember us having a shot in Florence, we were typical Moyes away in Europe performance

Was thinking about the FA cups we should’ve / could’ve won under Moyes since ‘09.

2011. Beat Chelsea then lose to Reading. We would’ve had City, Utd then Stoke to contend with to win silverware. We had the beating of all
those teams that season.
2012. Say no more. We did well against Chelsea that year so would’ve fancied our chances in the final.
2013. Wigan ffs, still haunts me. An easy route to the final against City again a team we had the confidence to beat.

Imagine if we’d got to 3 finals in 4 years since ‘09. Though Everton would’ve done an Everton and lost all of them badly.
