Uefa didnt want 5 English teams in the group. They didnt, at the time, expect the Prem league top four to be broken and someone come in and spoil the party. The rs were holders and quite rightly so be in the comp. Im convinced he was put in charge of that game to stop us getting in the groups because no one would question him, his 'best referee in the world' status would see to that.

Not only that, but he sort of "unretired" to ref this game and retired again, didn't he? IIRC he only ref'd 2 games prior for the season and they were early Italian cup matches... Then suddenly a CL Group Stage match, then retirement.

It's even longer since Clive Thomas disallowed that "winning" goal against The RS at Maine Road. IMO that decision against us was worse.

Although it was a terrible decision VillaReal were the better team. We need to stop dwelling on the past and look forward to the future.

Good things are going to happen for this club and CL football will be part of it. Threads like this are just embarrassing. Get over it. It's not like we lost a CL final.

You can see it on that clip by freezing at 2:31 / 2:32 Bent is impeding the defender getting to the ball, to be honest I hadn't really noticed it before, but then again I am numbed by all the crap decisions I have encountered against us over the years.
