If players can't perform under pressure they shouldn't be at Everton. You can't hide the league table from them all season and trick then into playing well. They seemingly had no problem grinding out results last season when the R word began to loom. KITAP1 was the order of the day and we pulled clear. So obviously negative pressure affects them in a good way but the pressure of achieving something doesn't.

So say you have a prospect at work who looks every inch a future manager... You're advocating not only exposing them to management duties but also expecting them deliver the results and expectation of an experienced manager?
And if said prospect struggled you'd sack them?

I've heard it all now. You sir, are a genius.

Last time I checked we were one of the biggest sides in English football not a nursery or an academy for the elite. If Martinez's strategy involves getting young world class players in then that is fine but that is a choice he has made. If he's done it as the best way to return us to success that is great but quite why fans have taken that to mean we now have a ready made excuse as to why we can no longer compete for anything I don't know. Rom Barkley Stones McCarthy are all internationals who have been in the first team for 3 seasons and in the prem longer (Stones excepted). Apart from Del (who is a bit raw) Where exactly is the need for all these kids gloves? Howard Baines Jags Coleman Barry Kone? This might have washed in 13/14 but this is not a team of teenagers. It is a squad of elite players who have been together for 2 and a half years with most of them being vastly experienced. Again, if they can't deal with pressure, why are we paying to have them here?

Using your own logic, do you therefore put our underperformance over the last 18 months solely on these young developing players? What about the other 7 in the first 11? Do they just get excused from all games with any pressure as well?

Still as well as we have played, 23 points out of 48 hmmmm no more excuses of we had all the hard games early.

I'm really not expecting us to beat Leicester, Stoke will be tough too, Newcastle away is our best chance of 3 full points to conclude the first half of the season. 28 points in the first half of the season, are people happy with that? Serious question?
United in a CL place *just* 29 points from 48
Spurs in the EL 5th spot *just* 26 points from 48

...Hmmmmmm

Biggest sides in English football....

Who havent won a bean since 1995 and even then it was the FA Cup. Wigan won that remember proving that it really is a bunch of finals and even teams struggling can win it

Where is all this experience of winning things in the dressing room which should be fortifying our stance as winners, as a top/challenging team? A quick scan of the brain leads me to believe that only Gareth Barry has actually won anything pertinent?

Howard - can't recollect he has won anything?
Baines - nope
Coleman - nope
Jagielka - nope
Stones - nope
Barry - yep
McCarthy - FA Cup
Deulofeu - nope, not really, he's been part of a successful club granted but its a little different when you havent got Xavi, Iniesta, Messi and co.
Barkley - Nope
Kone - FA Cup?
Lukaku - Belgian league maybe?

A bit further into our squad:

Naismith - SPL? I think even you could manage up there mate
Mirrallas - Greek league maybe?
Funes Mori - won something and I cant be bothered googling it because lets face it, it's not akin to anything over here in europe is it
Galloway - nope
Browning - nope
Lennon - League Cup maybe?
Pienaar - nothing for years
Gibson - I'll give you that one but then you lose on the fact he's made out of fibre glass and his involvement in Utd being successful was so vast that he was given to us for the mega-bucks price of 500k.

So I ask again for emphasis...where is all this experience of winning consistently in the dressing room which these youngsters can sponge off in order to better cope with the expectation NOT of the normal evertonian but of the mighty @Saint Domingo ?

You're kidding yourself. They are people mate. People who have no idea what it takes to be successful, no idea what it takes to be consistent. The older lads can teach they how to conduct themselves, how to be professional. The manager can give them freedom.

Make no mistake, these lads are having to learn themselves, here and now, what it takes to be successful as a collective. If you can't give them some understanding, patience and perspective then that's your problem.

Howard won the FA and League cup with United mate

This post is laughable. If you want to find any excuse for mediocrity go ahead, this site is full of them. You seem intent on warping every argument far beyond what it was originally about in the process attributing views to me that I've never held to make my opinion appear ridiculous.

Seeing as you either struggle to read or deliberately misrepresent arguments, here it is again, one poster said that this group of players should not have any pressure put on them whatsoever as they are not able to perform under it. I countered that by saying that why should this be the case? You then completely derailed the whole argument with a bizarre work based analogy then that embarassing last post which is both erroneous, includes disrespect for other leagues and competitions (yeah the copa libertadores is 'nothing'), and actually does not even counter the point I was making. Where did I say that the young players were surrounded by winners? I didn't, you'd have just liked me to say it to fit your bizarre extrapolated argument.

I ask you then, returning to the original argument that you sabotaged like a clumsy elephant, do you think that it is acceptable that Everton football club has a squad of players that are apparently incapable of performing under any pressure whatsoever? (An answer without changing the subject or your usual brain bending word jumble would be appreciated).

Dave. I have to say that very hypocritical. All last season and in isolated posts this season you rattled on about OUR 72 point total of 13/14 now OUR points total compared to games played is inadequate you have shifted your focus to other teams results/points totals.
