13 points out of 10 games

slightly more than I thought, but at 1.3 per game over 10 games that's only 50Pts over 38
averaging 1.5 is 57pts. this is where I think we will be.

We had 12 from 7 games too, which translates to about 64 points, which is where I think we could be if we get a great run of form going

Any upcoming surge up the table will not be as good as it potentially could be because of the usual suspects the foremost of them being Howard. We'll improve but long winning streaks are unlikely when your keeper is so poor.

Before the 10 games I'd say this would have been an OK/positive start. A base to build on with an easier run of games.

However after 7 games I was expecting more than 1 point from the last 3. Another 2/3/4 points and we'd have been in a very healthy position. So a little disappointed considering where we were.

Let's see how we break down the likes of Norwich/Sunderland with more emphasis on us dominating possession. These sort of games are as much about confidence. We know Lukaku/Barkley/Deulofeu/Mirallas can get goals. We just need to keep the tempo up, score first and build the confidence and momentum.

Cleverley & Mirallas can both help with tempo & creativity. Hoping to see both against Norwich.

This point doesn't stand up for me at all. West Ham, Leicester, Palace will all be equally as tough games as will others.

Anyone who thinks we will just blow these teams away is in for a shock, and the general consensus seems to be that we have had all of our tough fixtures for a while, well we clearly haven't.

To me people are just happy as we are playing better than last season, which in truth wouldn't be that difficult as the standards set then were pretty poor. If we had improved that much, we would have more than 13 points....it's a completely tepid start to the season that needs to improve massively, that's all I'm saying.

Mate I'm not saying I'm particularly happy with our start, but our first 10 fixtures were tough by anyone's standards.

If we only get 13 points from our next 10 games as well then I'll be more willing to support this thread, but for now, there's no need to panic

Let's face it: a top half of the table finish that goes hand in hand with a lengthy cup run is going to be satisfactory.

There's no chance of the CL spots even in our best season; the EL spots are a danger to our following season.

Just go for broke in the cups and maintain a creditable top half position. Job done until we get our takeover...IF we ever get our takeover.

Hard to argue with this I guess.

We have a keeper that will cost us more points than saves us. Always going to be uphill.
I am not sure that Tim would be a first choice keeper at the other prem clubs. Not knocking the door down to sign him are they.
I think that if we had a better keeper, we would climb higher, gain more points, concede fewer goals, etc etc
We are where we are, safe mid-table fodder.

My figure was 15pts - 18pts by the end of October (before Sunderland game was moved)
If we can get 16pts we have done ok taking into account the run of games.

I didn't expect though the runs Palace, Leicester & West Ham have gone on, so we have some work to do.

Gone from 'best of the rest isn't good enough' to top half is satisfactory. No it isn't for some. Tenth is not good enough by a long way.

Really looking forward to seeing us dealing with Big Sam's side lumping high balls into the box and defending against his set-pieces. Not. :(

Tim Howard does not like this ⬆️

Best of the rest isn't good enough, and never was. And the reality of it is that we end up with a fixture headache the following season.

Cup wins and/or a takeover are our only routes out of the situation we're in. Finishing between 5th and 7th with a nice pat on the head from the media is no consolation whatsoever. We've had that and look what it got us. Nothing.

Huge difference between finishing fifth and tenth. Not just prize money, but players like Barkley and Stones will just about stay if you've got Europa league, no chance of you're consistently tenth. Takeover will or won't happen regardless of league position so the logic of 'we may as well just finish anywhere and wait for a takeover' is bizarre. The Europa league didn't seem to affect us that much under Moyes. 07/08 was our highest points tally and a good Europa run. Doesn't seem to affect Spurs every year either. Let's be honest we just used it as a huge excuse for a poor season where we actually played worse when the Europa wasn't on.

No Europa this season anyway. No reason whatsoever we can't qualify for it and have decent cup runs. 10th is an appalling season.
