04/05 season vs 10/11 season

It occurred to me that, although we have undoubtedly a better squad this year when compared with the 04/05 season and we certainly play more attractive football now, the major problem we had/have in those campaigns is that we are unable to score goals. Is our defence the issue, we have only conceded one goal per game this season on average which is comparable with the season we finished fourth. The standard of the league is another possible reason for our lowly position but Chelsea and Manchester United are not looking invulnerable and former high achievers are also failing to make a major impact impact (spurs, RS). I am really baffled by our performances and our league position.

We had a team of battlers back then, front to back.

I think were caught between sheer flair and brute force now, at times coming out like a half baked version of both.

Carsley and Gravesen wouldn't be sh!tting out of tackles like supposed hard man Heitinga does.

Maybe thats the problem they need to stop believig the hype.

The League is alot closer nowadays, and that season was a bit of a one off really, I think the following season proved that. We over performed. This team is far better than the team of 04-05.
