Can’t speak for anyone else, but for me, it’s the abject disappointment of a ‘comedy’ appointment after I was led to believe that Moshiri heralded a new dawn.

But that’s just me. It’s not personal.

I'd have loved a top managerial appointment,but top managers are either not available or didn't want to come,when Silva declined to force the isssue with Watford it then became a choice between Pulis and Allardyce.For me Allardyce is the best of a very small bunch.Can you imagine if Pardew had been interviewed...

It is hard to escape the feeling that some on here are willing Sam to fail.

They'll rejoice if he fails, and keep shtum if he doesn't.

Can’t disagree with you there, davids, but I was just addressing your ‘toys out of the pram’ comment of the previous post, and trying to provide a possible answer by looking at it subjectively.

I believe that deep down, we’re all bitterly disappointed, but trying to put a positive slant on things which is the way it should be, I suppose.

But it still doesn’t detract from the truth.

No, for all Allardyce’s faults at least he’s straight talking and consistent. Pardew is the worst manager in the league. The smallest of initial mini boosts followed by awful football as he makes the whole club about himself.

In the wake of Atalanta and Saints even super optimists like me were starting to genuinely fear for it.

Within 72 hours of Sam becoming heir apparent at The Park fears for our survival had completely vanished and we are sitting in the top half of the table.

That may or may not have owt to do with Sam's arrival but from where I am sitting the connection is not lost.

If you can Survive...you can Revive.

But you cannot Revive...if you don't at first Survive.

And to prosper, we need to Revive.

In short, the horse needs to be in front of the cart.

Sam would not have been my choice....but he is here now and Evertonia seems a whole lot better and a much happier place today than it did exactly one week ago when we appeared to be in a deep crisis

Much in the same way as the last two managers,you will always get that with clubs,people wanting a manager/player to fail so they can say I told you so,I didnt like Koeman from the day he arrived,I stated that at the time,but also said I am happy if he achieves things here,not happy about SA,but prepared to give him a chance,in football you will always get divisions in the support,be it players,managers,style of play,new stadium designs,kits you name it some people will critisize it

Pretty much my take on it. Before the Southampton game I was against it, but watching that debacle meant we had no choice. A few more weeks of that and we would have been doomed.

Let's be honest. He was brought in because the board were petrified of relegation. He has been accepted by the majority of fans for the same reason. I doubt there's many on here who would have had him on their shopping list 3 months ago.

So the bar of measuring his success has been set pretty low from the off. If he fails, I can't imagine the state the club would be in. I'm one blue who would take absolutely no satisfaction whatsoever in saying "I told you so" if we got relegated.

I know exactly where you are coming from on this BF however following our two recent wins I am totally confident that we will now not be relegated because as hard as it may be to believe we know there are 5/6 teams who are actually worse than us and the good news is we are improving and 2/3 are getting worse.
Us and Allardyce has been set up as a marriage of convenience, a 6 month contract would have been embarrassing to him and he wouldn't have accepted that, it also gives him the incentive to ensure we are not relegated and to buy wisely in the two windows he will be given money for enabling him to push on in his final season, there may well be an option for longer if he wins something which will be a double edged sword if it ever happens.
I didn't want him here but I welcome him and obviously hope he does well you just never know.

I think we are just seeing the difference between fans and supporters.

It's all about opinion obviously.You like me have been a supporter for over 50 years,so you'll remember the appointment of Gordon Lee.Take a look at his record before he managed here.Billy bingham before him had come to us off the back of a failed Euro 72 campaign and managing Linfield and Plymouth (who were relegated)Hardly stellar,yet there was not the toys out of the pram responce that the Allardyce appointment has elicited.So where this "Everton are too good for Allardyce" comes from is puzzling and isn't backed up by history.

You really are obsessed with this aren't you. Why can't you just accept that some fans will have a different opinion to you, but can still be fans, and for gods sake stop judging us. You have absolutely no right to.

The fat smelly fella who sits in front of us hasn't been there since Big Sam signed. Everyone around that seat is buzzing, it's honestly made my match day experience 100% better (the 2 wins have also helped like). Hoping he doesn't come back.

It was a panic appointment - but it just goes to show what a couple of wins can do for the side.

We all wanted more - but if he somehow gets this squad to finish top half I wouldn't be surprised to see him walk away in the sunset with a few million bonus in the summer.
