“Fans” that won’t support us if we get Allardyce

I think we.nearly made Xmas unbeaten..could be wrong, but support the team and manager and who knows what can happen.

Indeed.

In 1977 we lost to Cloughie's future League and European Champions, Forest, at home on the opening day then lost an away game.

After that we were not beaten again until United came here on Boxing Day and won 6-2.

In '78 we were unbeaten until November when Cov beat us at Highfield Road :(

There are several basic truths about football fans.

Fans will embrace bad football if it is winning football.

They will be patient with losing football if it is good football.

What they will absolutely not tolerate is bad, losing football.

If Sam's team falls into that latter category he will be toast.

That is what done for bus two predecessors.

But I have this funny wee feeling that Sam is going to give us a mixture of functional and expansive, winning football ;)
I hope you're right.

Not a massive fan of Sam, tbh. Would rather not see him here this time next year. Mind you, if he manages to win at Anfield - the first time in my lifetime that I could recall (was 4 the last time) then it would go a long way.

Mind i'm absolutely fed up of all this optimism going into Derby's for us to always roll over. Literally don't get hyped up anymore.

It's all about opinion obviously. You like me have been a supporter for over 50 years,so you'll remember the appointment of Gordon Lee.Take a look at his record before he managed here.Billy bingham before him had come to us off the back of a failed Euro 72 campaign and managing Linfield and Plymouth (who were relegated)Hardly stellar, yet there was not the toys out of the pram responce that the Allardyce appointment has elicited. So where this "Everton are too good for Allardyce" comes from is puzzling and isn't backed up by history.
It's not just his record - which is hardly brimming with trophies. It's his bung taking past - any other profession, he'd be banned for life or certainly for a set period of time. He's almost a walking cariacature. Listening to the Huddersfield fans chanting & taking the piss because he's our manager, singing that he's only in it for the money. I noticed this was met with deathly silence because we know that it's true. We are going to have to listen to this for the rest of the season. I think I was after a manager who could not only deliver for us, but would not make us an object of ridicule.
But as I said, I'll still be going long after BFS has gone - been a blue all my life regardless of who comes and goes.
