There are probably 7-8 young players who aren't so young any more who if we could move on would free up a lot of money. Browning was one, but you've got Galloway, Tarashaj, Garbutt, Pennington, Williams et al, none of whom seem likely to make it with us, but all of whom must be earning money that could be spent more productively. Both senior and youth squads have become hugely bloated in the Moshiri era.

In may we will have roughly 43 first team players on our books, 2 or 3 contracts will expire, provided we dont renew them of course, we then need to get that group of players reduced in some way.

Its really not going to be an easy job.

Yep, other clubs will know our situation and offer us buttons which we will have to take imo.

I've seen people post these figures on here, maybe where the article "writer" picked this up from. It seems quite a lazy piece tbh. However, the truth is that all those mentioned do need shifting. I'd hate to be Marcel Brands in the summer. He's in a situation where if he doesn't move the majority out then he won't be able to strengthen anywhere near as much as we'd all like, and with our fickle fans that could mean shouts for the chop.

Its why for me Brands has to accept any reasonable offer for these players. Obviously not being completely ripped off however that £20 million price tag for Tosun is a joke and completely unrealistic.

Take £10-12 million and get him off the books.

Recently crunched these numbers myself in a thread elsewhere and worked out that those mentioned in the article, and the “youngsters” who are cluttering the squad, would save just shy of £1m per week. Think some of the figures in this article are a little conservative too. Shocking state of affairs. Really looking forward to Brands working his magic and getting us looking healthy again, he’s got a hell of a job on.

I only care about money spent when it's on the heap of garbage I watch two times a week.

The guys, outside of pickford they have spent on, are mostly a waste. I'd rather just overwhelm one offensive minded star with an offer than buy all this crap. Cenk, Sandros, Sigurdsson, Keane, even digne, great personality, scrappy with some talent, but seems out of position taking bad tackles all the time. He's lucky the tackle turned out the way it did against Cardiff. Who's the Dutch bum they bought off the Eredivise?

When you look at all the money spent on crap, it's annoying. I dont care about spending because it's not money. I'm just annoyed about the spending because it is all utter crap they have spent on. Outside of Richarlison, I stil have hope for him.

Hi mate, as the official Digne thread sponsor and personal mentor to this extremely talented footballer I feel it's my duty to serve notice that your account will be terminated in the next 24 hours unless we receive a written apology.

I kind of agree with the article, but from my perspective I think most of the deadwood/expendable players were purchased prior to the current management setup. Personally I don’t think Mina will make it unless this is an adjustment year, but the remainder are all starters currently, and 2 of them go back at the end of the year anyway.

That doesn't alter the fact that many of them are vastly overpaid, dramatically under-produce and therefore need to go. Sadly the more rubbish you have on the books, the harder it is to shift the rubbish.

Haha! ;)

Not sure I would say in the Moshiri era were they are not for the most part here before under BK?
