Amazing. So glad we won, but, cricket truly was the winner. Well done both teams.

Not sure why Southee hasn't brought himself back. New Zealand's best bowler by a mile.

Whatever the result..... magnificent game. Test cricket still is, and always will be, the pinnacle of the sport.

    Cricket

As long as Australians aren't involved, cricket still is a game for gentlemen/gentlewomen

No jinx, if Root doesn't get out, England win.

    Cricket

Well done England - Joe Root is just too good unfortunately. The difference I think is in the strength of the respective sides' bowling attacks - if we had Boult and Jamieson playing, things may have been different.

    Correct, sadly.

Fantastic to see our Kane back in form.

New Zealand cricket pitches don't tend to break up on day five, which means whether it's day three, four or five, generally they're still pretty good to bat on. The Basin Reserve also is one of the more batter-friendly grounds in the country, along with probably Hagley Oval. So I figure that's...

As a Kiwi cricket fan, gotta say..... James Anderson is a legend, once-in-a-generation cricketer. His longevity is amazing. Arguably the best batsman to have ever come from our shores, Kane Williamson, and Anderson has had him on toast at the age of 40.

Considering Hiroshima. How many nights did you stay there? From having a google, would I be right that it's around three and a half hours by bullet train from Tokyo?

Haha, I obviously meant to say Tokyo, not Disneyland, but yeah we'd do one day at Disneyland Tokyo.

Open to suggestions. We were thinking maybe four-five days in Disneyland and a few days elsewhere. The Fuji/Hakone area looks fantastic and we enjoy getting out of the city and doing a bit of exploring in natural areas so we considered that for a couple of days.

Off to Japan for eight days in May, flying in and out of Tokyo. Never been before, and nothing as yet booked on the ground apart from the first two nights in Tokyo. Any tips for what to see and do greatly appreciated!

    Pinpointing a moment.....

Haha, yeah. I was thinking from when Moshiri walked through the door at Goodison in 2016...... so many disasters in the past seven years, but for me the summer of 2017 was a catastrophe when we had a real opportunity to push on - a large transfer budget and European qualification. Perhaps the...

    Pinpointing a moment.....

From memory when Lukaku was sold, Koeman said in an interview he wanted "the goals spread around" and that Lukaku didn't suit a pressing style that Koeman wanted to impose. We then went and signed attackers completely lacking pace who wouldn't be able to press - the likes of a 32 year-old...

    Pinpointing a moment.....

I was looking post-Moyes, but yep, Heysel and the European ban saw several clubs overtake us leading into the premier league era.

    Pinpointing a moment.....

Bill's sycophantic ego in "bringing a boyhood blue home" was ultimate cringe, that's for sure.

    2022/23 Amadou Onana

Genuinely could still see him with us next season if we're relegated. He's only 21, and would not be a huge salary-earner, and he looks like a level-headed enough lad to know himself he's still a bit raw. If we don't get promoted next season though, he'd be off.
