    Everton positivity thread

Everton means GOT, and GOT means occasional comedy gold such as this https://www.grandoldteam.com/forum/threads/is-it-my-self-esteem.92983/

    Pinpointing a moment.....

Haha, yeah. I was thinking from when Moshiri walked through the door at Goodison in 2016...... so many disasters in the past seven years, but for me the summer of 2017 was a catastrophe when we had a real opportunity to push on - a large transfer budget and European qualification. Perhaps the...

    Pinpointing a moment.....

From memory when Lukaku was sold, Koeman said in an interview he wanted "the goals spread around" and that Lukaku didn't suit a pressing style that Koeman wanted to impose. We then went and signed attackers completely lacking pace who wouldn't be able to press - the likes of a 32 year-old...

    Pinpointing a moment.....

I was looking post-Moyes, but yep, Heysel and the European ban saw several clubs overtake us leading into the premier league era.

    Pinpointing a moment.....

Bill's sycophantic ego in "bringing a boyhood blue home" was ultimate cringe, that's for sure.

    2022/23 Amadou Onana

Genuinely could still see him with us next season if we're relegated. He's only 21, and would not be a huge salary-earner, and he looks like a level-headed enough lad to know himself he's still a bit raw. If we don't get promoted next season though, he'd be off.

    Pinpointing a moment.....

Yep. James had a foot out the door the second Real Madrid came calling for Carlo.
  8. Toffee in Jandals

    Pinpointing a moment.....

Respectfully disagree, 11 goals in 40 appearances in 17/18 as a midfielder / second striker is a decent return in a horrifically low-quality team, even if three of those were penalties. He was let down by scandalously poor recruitment in the other attacking areas of the pitch. Come to think...

    Pinpointing a moment.....

.... where it all went wrong. I'll start - the summer of 2017, and we spent in the range of 135,000,000 quid on Davy Klaassen, Sandro Ramirez, Henry Onyekuru, Josh Bowler, Jordan Pickford, Michael Keane, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Wayne Rooney, and Nikola Vlasic. Out of those only Pickford and (because...

    Aussies

For those who are going to be in Sydney, the Everton Supporters Club Australia have done an ace job of putting on a few events. Am heading over from NZ on Saturday, looking forward to it and mingling with fellow blues. Slightly less enthused about seeing these wasters getting whacked by Celtic...

Will Everton score a goal in November? Probably not.

The 1414 native-American pre-European Brazilian team would do a job on us.

At least we are playing the correct players as wing-backs. There's no way Coleman or Myko would be able to play as effective wing-backs.

    2022/23 Idrissa Gana Gueye

Agree. If anything, I think Garner would replace Onana to give the young lad a rest. I know Tarkowski and Coady rightly have had most of the plaudits for our improved defensive record this season, But Idrissa is so clever with his positioning for interceptions that a lot of his best work goes...

    2022/23 Amadou Onana

Correct. Defensively we were so much worse in the second half after Gueye was subbed for Garner and Onana was given a yellow card, meaning he had to be a bit more conservative in his challenges.

Totally agree. The last two performances have been abysmal beyond words.

The only remotely acceptable decision could be that Frank knows Palace at home on Saturday, even at this stage of the season, is a big game, and he's saving Wobes' energy

It's the leadership at this club, off the pitch. Mediocrity, lack of ambition and a comfort in just wanting to stay in this league have been allowed to permeate this club of ours for more than 25 years.
