    Financial Fair Play investigation

It doesn’t read well but ultimately the auditors can only take into account legally binding funding when making the going concern assessment. That would mean Moshiri needs to put in equity or debt now - which he clearly won’t do. Moshiri could decide to support us if we go down but as it’s not...

    Financial Fair Play investigation

It’s so so with Blue Heaven Holdings. It is the majority shareholder in the club. Its majority shareholder is Moshiri. In effect we are reliant on Moshiri if we get relegated.

    New Everton Stadium Discussion

Reality is if he sells the club without the stadium the club is worth much less. Any buyer would have to price in the annual rental cost when coming up with the valuation to buy. Add to that that it leaves Moshiri with an illiquid £700m asset. How many years before the build cost is recovered...

    Farhad Moshiri

I’m speculating but that’s my guess. Otherwise it would have to be a huge coincidence that this broke now a week or so after the ban on providing audit services to Russian linked companies was announced.

    Farhad Moshiri

The rules cover provision of direct and indirect services. So Everton is controlled by Moshiri and his Russian links are the cause for concern. So the provision of services to Everton is the indirect provision of services Moshiri. It’s to stop the use of shell companies to get around the...

    Farhad Moshiri

We’ve relied on Moshiri’s continued investment to ensure going concern is met in the past year. With the savings we’ve made in the last 12 months I’d guess going concern basis would be at risk only if he’d had enough and was walking away. It would be odd for BDO to change their view now. What...

    Farhad Moshiri

It will be sanctions related. The government has just extended the ban on providing professional services to companies with a Russian connection so that it now covers audit services. BDO won’t want to even chance it with this one. Auditors don’t normally resign due to going concern risks. They...

Is that a home shirt on Richarlison’s dog?

    2018/19 Richarlison

He’s played two games... Hes made a great start but let’s not go overboard comparing him to the best players in our history just yet

    Usmanov

Fair enough- but why is your view of Usmanov’s motivation for the quotes any more accurate than anyone else’s? Usmanov’s public statements mean nothing. All we can say for certain is that even if it is complicated to invest in Everton now (and I’m not sure it is) it’s way less complicated than...

    Usmanov

Never said I thought he was coming here just that it would be a good time to be an Everton fan if he did. Honest question though- why are you so sure he won’t?

    Usmanov

I don’t think the burden of argument lies with anyone on the forum - he either comes here or he doesn’t. It’s a point of fact not of debate. Personally I’d like him here as it would give us a chance to compete but only he and a small group of people close to him have any idea what is planned...

How can anyone be pushed into selling shares in a company other than when that person is in some sort of financial difficulty (which for the record I don’t think Usmanov is...)?

    Usmanov

Not just to make that fortune but keep it. Very few people have any idea what his plans are and those people certainly won’t be telling the times or the mirror.

It will be the same with Moshiri when he eventually sells up as Blue Heaven Holdings is also based in IOM. These guys don’t set things up to pay tax. I would guess the only UK tax paid on this sale was the 0.5% stamp duty paid by Kroenke.

    Usmanov

Technically he didn’t sell them. It was his investment company in the Isle of Man. That company won’t be paying any tax on the disposal so rollover isn’t needed

Except USM won't be UK tax resident. It'll be an offshore vehicle (nil tax) so probably no tax saving at all.
