Match Thread Everton vs Lyon 19 October, 20:05

I saw two kinds of passion tonight. One was Holgate almost in tears at the end of the match, obviously upset that his mistake had partly cost the match, and also possibly Koeman's position. That is caring about the shirt. Then there was Williams outrageously lashing out at the Lyon goalkeeper...

Ok...... whatever happened to the 'edit' function on posts?..... i see now that i misunderstood your response to gorgeousgeorgeEFC and that the discussion wasn't concerning Ashley..... nevertheless, although i didn't see it myself, the guy in the crowd was surely a fool to have lashed out at...

No doubt, but surely the main issue here is the way that Ashley lashed out at the Lyon goalkeeper, and no playing around with words will alter that.

You're playing with semantics. It won't change the fact that the majority of people who witnessed that will see it as atrocious behaviour, and rightly so.

    Ronald Koeman discussion

I would be very surprised if Koeman goes before the end of the season, and unless we are still hovering above the bottom three then even at that point, knowing Kenwright's track record, i wouldn't expect him to go before the end of the season. Koeman and Walsh did a pretty good job last season...

    2017/18 Ashley Williams

Yep, totally agree. I know i need to go back to Specsavers, so until i saw the replay at closer quarters i actually doubted what i'd seen. The only way he could redeem himself is if he had been racially abused, but in the post-match interview he had no defence.

    2017/18 Ashley Williams

I'm sure some players must get curious about what fans think, but they would definitely be better steering clear of forums, far too much vitriol imo.

    2017/18 Ashley Williams

Yeah, i guess you have a point, but did he ever do it without provocation? Williams should have been red-carded beyond a shadow of doubt and you can be sure that he will face some serious retrospective action.

    2017/18 Tom Davies

Davies is imo full of promise, definitely one of our best prospects, but he still has a lot to learn with his decision making. I hope he moves on more than Ross did.

    2017/18 Ashley Williams

It looks like it happened tonight. Personally, i think he had a decent season last time around but has been generally poor this season. However, having read through some of the posts on this thread i can see why he has a bit of a complex. Some of the guys on here crack me up, they disrespect...

    2017/18 Ashley Williams

Totally unforgivable behaviour from Ashley tonight imo, i can't believe i saw that from someone in an Everton shirt. He's a bit of a thug, i've noticed it in several games. He will pay dearly for his indiscretion, no doubt, and he should also be stripped of the captaincy.

Yeah, what's going on with Lookman, is he injured or something? We really needed more attacking potency today.

A tough result that, but then if you sit back what do you expect? I think Koeman made an error of judgement taking Barkley off. As for Lukau, he was totally half-hearted and largely anonymous, very disappointing, another premadonna is born, time to get rid.

Have faith, it's only Ronald's first season in charge. We have a quality manager and serious money, even more so when Lukaku goes off to find his pot of gold. The tide is beginning to turn on the RS.....

Absolutely. That's been a problem for too many years. Drenthe was capable of that. Unfortunately he was also an airhead. If we are to move on to the highest level then we need to acquire more technical skill, but players who can combine that with passion.

So maybe it wasn't so much Roberto's fault? Maybe we need to be seriously looking at the quality we have on the field? Time to splash the cash Farhad. I actually think that Ronald conducted himself with class in the post-match interview, especially with regard to his comments about 'Kloff

Match Thread Liverpool vs Everton - Saturday 1st April

April Fools. So many bad decisions both on and off the field. WTF Valencia instead of Lookman? Too much young blood still wet behind the ears - RS bargain with the Devil is obviously still being honoured with a couple of our key players out, and we don't have their strength in depth - yet, and...

Match Thread Everton V Liverpool 19th December 2016

What an utter shambles second half. He who dares wins. Invite a team to come on like that and it's almost always going to end the same way, will they ever learn?? Back to HOOF football Moyes and Martinez style. Very poor use of substitutes second half, the young kid was out of his depth. We...
