    Everton Summer 2024 Transfer Thread

I don't think the Gnonto thing had any knock on effect on us though did it even if it was actually true? Its not like we spent all summer trying to sign him and forgot to go after anyone else because we were so focused on him.

    The Handball

If anything it should be the total opposite the handball law was basically to stop people from picking the ball up it wasnt designed to be used for giving penalties when a ball bounces up onto someones arm without them realising.

    2023/24 James Garner

Some people will say it doesn't matter or even that we should have for that reason but I think putting out a clearly experimental team in a game that could decide the title would have been very disrespectful and invited a lot of criticism at a time when the club probably just wants to keep its...

    VAR

It goes in the anti VAR camp because it's pretty much the perfect example of why a lot of people hate VAR - you go through the whole pantomime with all the time it takes and he moment being ruined and and all that and you STILL don't get the right decision.

    New Everton Stadium Discussion

Loads of members and people on waiting lists won't go they like the idea of it but giving up every weekend and spending a grand is a big commitment when it comes to the crunch loads of people just won't do it.

Well thats a different thing altogether and also illegal so we probably aren't going to do it.

    Everton Summer 2024 Transfer Thread

If everyone signs their contracts and Holgate and Maupay come back we'll have 21 senior players including Dobbin and Chermiti who have about 5 starts between them that is only one player more than you need for a matchday squad we're not exactly overstocked.

    VAR

I keep seeing it suggested but I think its the worst possible idea I just can't see how it could ever work that way in football and 6 reviews is probably a lot more than the average game has anyway so it would mean more VAR not less.

    VAR

They're pretty good at it though to be fair. I don't mind the odd marginal call being wrong myself I can live with that in fact I'd much rather that than being pulled up for being a millimetre offside that isn't really the point of the offside law as far as i'm concerned.

    Everton Summer 2024 Transfer Thread

That only really applies to people who have run their contract down to go for free because they know they're in demand you end up giving the player half the money you would have given their club because they're the ones with the power its not the same for players who are released by their clubs...

    2023/24 Sean Dyche

Unfortunately I would be surprised if there aren't some absolutely massive excuses actually.

    2023/24 Sean Dyche

I agree with this totally. I didn't mind the football in the first half of the season to be fair if they can do more of that its fine for me but the second half has been a hard watch.

    VAR

I'd rather see it used as just a mopping up tool where somebody is watching looking for properly bad decisions. We all accept that sometimes a challenge can look better or worse in real time and having someone checking that the ref hasn't made the wrong decision on that is fine. Same with a dive...

I like their little pop at Notts Forest at the bottom!

"I don't see any point in raking things up so i'll just trawl the internet for negative articles from 10 years ago but i'm totally not bothered about it i'm dead rational and everyone who agrees with me is unhealthy".

    2023/24 Sean Dyche

That what I'm saying really that Dyche has let him go and get on the pitch because he's been training well but that doesn't mean he's actually got the ability to play at this level consistently I'm not saying he definitely hasn't but he obviously couldn't get a game in the championship and i...

    2023/24 Sean Dyche

Its funny that even these made up arguments can be used to prove whatever you want them to prove if he chose Whittaker you'd have people saying well of course he wouldn't want Nani because he's foreign and he does fancy tricks he wants Whittaker because he's English and 6 foot 2 he's such a...

    2023/24 Sean Dyche

I'm guessing obviously but I don't think Warrington is in the clubs plans I think putting him on for a couple of minutes was a bit of nice man management to say go and live your dream for a few minutes lad it wasn't to give him experience for us or see what he could do it was just a reward for...

    VAR

I don't think that particular one was evidence of a flawed system it was more just a terrible individual decision you do still get the odd one of those even in sports where it generally works well.
  20. J

    VAR

I agree I think theres a place for VAR as a safety net to stop absolute travesties but it just doesn't work when its used to pretty much re referee the game. If someone can watch a replay and say you've missed a clear foul or offside you need to change it then great but nobody wants a situation...
