It's utter nonsense. Within the space of a movie you go from trying to take out a captial ship with the slowest, useless and vulnerable fleet of bombers to taking them out with warp speed superweapon. No narrative consistency, hence no believeability.

It looks like the idea was to attract that half of the demographic. Dont see why not, just wish they'd keep politics out of that franchise and if they want to do this, dream up something from scratch. Ditto Star Trek, Dr Who .....

Nah, well I don't thinks so. I watched the recent one were Solo got killed (which one was that?), just to see what all the hype was about on the off chance it might be good... not over Impressed, all seemed a bit derivative.

Loved it. Apart from the comedy Leia bit and the “prequel style” Canto Bight visit which was nothing short of bizarre.

It was the second part of a triolgy, the third part of which is due for realise weeks from now. It would be odd if people weren't discussing it......

I can remember as if it were yesterday,the queue outside the Odeon making me think it'll be a decent film,how impressive the immense space ship passing appeared as it dominated the screen.After that I may have nodded off or decided the pub was the better option for a first date after all.Did I miss much?

It's a terrible movie. I have some sympathy for Rian Johnson because he lacked the experience to helm such a big movie.

Watching it I felt like someone had taken the first draft of the script and just filmed it without the benefit of other people looking it over and gently pointing out the incoherent middle section, the sophomoric jarring attempt at injecting humour and the sloppy writing.

The only competent people at lucasfilm appear to be the special effects guys, who generally did a fine job and the pr team who cleverly positioned their response to criticism as a counter to those who objected to a diverse cast, rather than those who just thought it was a terrible movie for the reasons above.

The result was genuine criticism of the movie was lumped in with alt right nonsense and it because impossible to have a genuine online debate on the movies merits.
