Bad ref decisions - for and against - season 2025/26

This is the big issue. The PL and PGMOL don't care a jot for us or Burnley but if Man City or Arsenal had a similar incident would it have been cleared in a few seconds? Not a chance. I'm not saying they would have definitely given a penalty but they'd have spent a good couple of minutes pouring over camera angles.
That penalty is given every time for the above mentioned clubs, not even a debate that..

The rules are set to let the powers that be determine a result.
There should be no subjective decisions involved.
The penalty law should change to if it hits the arm/hand it is a pen....no matter what the circumstances.

Offside is the same...if you are off you are off. Even if it's a winger 40 yards away picking his nose on the wing.
All this "was he/wasn't he interfering with play" bollox throws it back to a subjective call again....which we've been punished with this season.
Simplify it to black or white calls, no grey areas needed.

We seem as a team to accept decisions like today too easily, we dont surround the ref and make a song and dance about it which then forces them to look at it... take Arsenal last week as a team they were in the referees face to a man on the perceived push in the back. We are too soft and have been for years

I actually agree with that. But it's knowing that we'll see a pen given for it within like 2 weeks which is maddening.

I dont.

His hand was out at a unnatural angle and hit his hand which was about a foot away from his body. It was a shot on target that not only did the handball block it was also directly responsible for them starting a counterattack and leading to one of our players having to commit a professional foul and recive a yellow.

That should 100% be a penalty.

I don't think it's unnatural, he's twisting his body the way most people would, the shot comes at him quite fast from not very far away.

That said, it's pretty much identical to one Dewsbury-Hall conceded against Brighton. That's the problem.

A stonewall penno for handball not given to us. Unbelievably poor officiating. No question in my mind that a penalty should have been given by the hapless and corrupt Pawson. Even with his myopia and bias , VAR should then have referred him to a monitor. Absolutely stinks.
We'll keep watching these bent officials.

Exactly this. Said it earlier.

I think fans are that used to claiming a penalty every time a ball is hammered towards goal, regardless of where it hits the defender.

Surely we don't want this situation that has developed where defenders can't throw their body on the line anymore without the risk of handball being given? Football has become sterile enough.

The Burnley player didn't spread their arms, they jumped to block, twisting their back towards the ball with their arms exactly where I'd expect from a jumping, blocking motion.

The problem is consistency. They can give what they want, depending whose playing, with no repercussions to the differing decision.

None of the penalties that have been given when someone has had the ball blasted at them from a couple of yards should be a penno, including today's. But, as you say, when some are penalties and some are not and PGMOL are pretending that they aren't the same then that is a big problem.
