January Transfer Window 2026

They weren't great days Curtis as we were spending money with the ambition to qualify for the 'champions' league and we failed badly hence the high turnover of managers. As for Richarlison yes I've seen him play and as an other poster commented he slowed the game too much and was guilty of giving the ball away too much. I'm not sure I'd describe him as a finesse player either. My argument is for the money he'd cost us I'd prefer someone who is better than someone who has shown to not be at the level where we want to get too and I'm not a fan of expensive stop gap signings
There's a distinction between alright to mediocre seasons and atrocious, I guess I should clarify I feel like Richie is capable of displaying moments of finesse and I think he's a strong and direct moving with the ball which I think would benefit us on the break and could see him as a solid loan if feasible. I do get your reservations about acquiring an injury prone player that would have minimal resale value and only a couple more seasons left. I apologize for being snappish I don't think you deserved that , I just strongly disagreed with your take on Richie and it made me flip 😂. Obviously you're entitled to your own perspective.

We have been linked with him a few times, in the summer and last January. Believed to be available for around £20m, Ipswich had an offer around that accepted by Middlesborough in the summer, but Hackney turned down the move, holding out for a move to the premier league.

This could be one that we could get done early in the window and strengthen with a player who hopefully wont need too long to settle into the premier league as he has experience in English football.

….difficult to see ‘Boro selling in January whilst they have a decent chance of promotion.

Can't see where he would fit in, certainly not a priority..

No more sticking plasters, it gets us nowhere. If he didn't play for United nobody would bat an eyelid at him imo, nothing special about him for me.
It's January. There won't be a lot of value in the market and he's one of the few that does offer it. If it was the summer then I wouldn't be all in for it but I think we will find it hard to find a decent CM in January for good value hence why it's best to tackle that in the summer. I disagree on his ability too, he was good for England in the Euros and their cup runs. He has ability, just needs the right club and manager.

This January our priority is the fullback positions, it would just be nice to have a tad more cover at CM and a bit of a different type of player there.

Seen a few links to 23 year old Moroccan Right Back Zakaria El Ouahdi. Currently playing in Belgium for Genk, rumoured to be available between £10m -£12m

Looks like a player with an eye for goal and can cross, it’s that type of thing I think we are really missing at the moment in the fullback areas

Not watched a second but can tell he is already better than Nathan " The Hype " Patterson

I'm in just for the pleasing symmetry of having Moroccan fullbacks on both sides.

Good player. Surprised that we didn't move for him in the summer. You'd think it would be difficult to prise him away in January.

And lo!
A Christmas miracle!
